Now Valedictorians are going to become a thing of the past:
High schools are increasingly ditching giving the graduating senior with the top grades in his or her respective class the traditional valedictorian award, (Wall Street Journal)
“I think it’s pretty stupid, and I don’t think it’s fair” said Ryan Walters, a promising student who most likely could have been a top contender for the award before his high school decided against giving it out. “Wake County is instilling in us that we shouldn’t try to be the best,” added Walters, commenting on his school district in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Heritage High School, Walters’ school, is not alone in getting rid of the award. At least half the United States high schools have stopped giving the award or they name multiple valedictorians for the graduating class.
Officials argue that the award can cause overly competitive students and unnecessary stress.
It seems strange to diminish the benefits of academic achievement. But to the rabbits, every aspect of the K-selected environment must be eradicated. Leftists are acutely aware of any indicator of K-selection, and they are programmed to freak out at the sight of them. This is amygdala at the sight of some people succeeding, which implies others did not, and that terrifies the rabbits. The only solution is that everyone must fail.
To us it creates a bizarre world that is unacceptable, but to the rabbit what it creates is perfectly normal. It is our world which to them is bizarre, painful, and totally unacceptable.
Ironically for them, in the real world, one of us has to win and one of us has to lose.
Tell others about r/K Theory, because you can be the Valedictorian of your political world
This reminded me of an excerpt from Sir John Glubb’s “Fate of Empires”
“Money being in better supply than courage, subsidies instead of weapons are employed to buy off enemies. To justify this departure from ancient tradition, the human mind easily devises its own justification. Military readiness, or aggressiveness, is denounced as primitive and immoral. Civilised peoples are too proud to fight. The conquest of one nation by another is declared to be immoral. Empires are wicked. This intellectual device enables us to suppress our feeling of inferiority, when we read of the heroism of our ancestors, and then ruefully contemplate our position today. ‘It is not that we are afraid to fight,’ we say, ‘but we should consider it immoral.’ This even enables us to assume an attitude of moral superiority.”
In other words, as an empire enters its age of decadence and r-selection, it will frequently kill off competition, because people are less inclined to fight and risk their lives and their wealth for their own defense. By declaring conflict and competition “stressful” or “immoral,” they can redefine their own cowardice and weakness as a moral good. (The Fate of Empires is available online as a free PDF, and I highly recommend it as a record of what happens when superpowers turn r-selected and head towards collapse.)
Wow, perfect example. Thank you for that.
Hey Anonymous Conservative, to be fair it was not always an award worth celebrating and in fact the push for it could be seen as a r thing in that many schools in the late 90s early 00s push the academy over the sports and the type of academics change.
The football team (NRL) in my grade did not get celebration from these award nights even know they won every year and the competition from other schools was high.
I remember sitting there over and over again on several occasions listening to teachers and the principle give out awards for the highest achieving students which tend to be the same students every year. Now i am not saying they don’t deserve such an award or anything like that but the current school system is base on student memorized the work the best and pass the test. No thinking in logic, no debate and just read the material and memorized the answers for the test expect for English (which has its own problems, yes they mark you down for spelling and sentence structural but you could write a lot about nothing ie crap and this was very heavily base on the teachers feeling). Now even in the late 90s the system was very feminized and teachers would award better grades to female students.
I saw it happen so many times especially in IT, which was funny since some of the females that higher marks than me actually ask me and others for help. IT, math, science, philosophy and even history the best were the few males (note I am saying around 5%) that knew their stuff and logical explain how and why answer is x and could teach you. The grades did not show this since the way the testing is and the favoritism of some students by the teachers especially for girls change the mark.
This all means the type of person most likely getting the awards would someone like the character Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Great at getting pass the test and gets on the good side of the teachers but what does that mean?
How many that are or were great at school can think outside the box? How many of them question authority? How many of them read books that went against the worldviews of the education system?
Now if you read John Taylor Gatto books you know the American school system was set in the early 20th century base on the Prussian model up to create good factory workers, obedient soldiers and set up a class system of people on the top.
Now the problems today are even worst. Teaching them everything from Multi Cultural and how west is bad and the past is evil. Global Warming, Men are evil (I got a little of this but it is worst), Trans rights, Gays rights, and Racism against whites.
If you get an award today at these school then you pass all the test, many of them being what we would call anti western and anti men.
So maybe canceling the awards might promote more K since why bother learning all this crap since you get no awards. Kind of like what we spoke of before about abortions. r have more abortions than K types and even know abortions is an thing r.
I know I hated school and I think this why I could read things that challenge both my current thinking and what is accepted in society. This was everything from things like the food pyramid and r/K. Compare to a guy that went to my school, love it. Now he is an over weight English teacher who believes in both the food pyramid, socialism and feminism.
Good points
