Senior law enforcement officials told NBC News that they have made two discoveries in Paddock’s 32nd-floor hotel room that they currently cannot explain.
The first is a cell phone charger that does not match any of the devices that belonged to the gunman.
The second is a hotel record showing that one of Paddock’s key cards was used to access his room while his car was outside of the hotel’s parking garage.
The first could be a prostitute, but together, they both raise another, more interesting question. There was a rumor Paddock deployed a sophisticated electronic interference device which wiped out surveillance camera footage on his floor. I thought it unlikely that one, casino security deployed wireless camera systems when even an amateur like me would always go with a hard-wired system, and that two, they would tolerate losing footage on a floor without immediately finding out just what was going on.
But if they haven’t worked out exactly who was in and out of that hotel room yet, in a hotel linked to a casino and likely wired up with cameras everywhere, then Paddock was operating at a sophisticated level indeed. Which makes you wonder how Casino/hotel security could be made to tolerate losing a floor worth of security cameras without investigating immediately and fixing the problem.
Every time I am ready to blow him off as a lone nutjob, something else comes out which sounds like it can’t be right.
Spread r/K Theory, because it is a certainty in a world of confusion
I was wondering if you thought today’s NYT profile of Paddock (Mystery of a Non-descript Numbers Guy) provides any further evidence of your theory that we are dealing with a narcissist.
Oh yeah.
That is all addled amygdalae.
But it does feel like there may be something more there. His patterns are strange. And you know he wasn’t stupid enough to think the IRS was where the money was. And no mention of working for the post office. And he was clearly paranoid of those around him. Amygdala, something else, no way to tell. We still do not have nearly enough to know whether it was as simple as it could be, or something more.
There are supposedly only four LV Strip hotels with cameras in hallways, and Mandalay Bay isn’t on that list.

Those 4 hotels are:
MGM Grand
Planet Hollywood
Tropicana
Caesars Palace (not all towers)
“…four LV Strip hotels with cameras in hallways…”
I don’t believe this. I don’t care what they say I don’t believe it. Cameras are too important for insurance purposes.
Let me guess. Video coverage on floor 32 conveniently goes out every time somebody gets off the elevator. That’ll be their excuse. They think we’re all idiots.
