What amazes me about Trump is that when the cameras go off I have seen a very low-key, almost introverted guy. But he has created this personae which can speak in such a way as to maximally control a crowd’s opinion. If an individual, one on one, spoke in hyperbole it would get him branded a bullshit artist. Yet Trump regularly speaks almost exclusively in hyperbole to maximally shift the opinion of the crowd, and it just fits.
“OK, so George Will is a disaster. Honestly, another one, Karl Rove. He’s terrible. He’s terrible. He’s terrible. He still thinks that Mitt Romney won. He’s still going around saying, I think he won. This guy—think of this—he ought to be on Wall Street. He raises money pretty well. The last cycle, the last presidential election, he raised $434 million and didn’t win one race. Can you believe that? Can you believe it?”
“But you look at some of these guys and they are like boilers, okay—real estate—they are like boilers. Bill O’Reilly said the other night, Bill O’Reilly is a great guy, good guy, great guy. Although he’s tough and he’s tough with me, that I can tell you. Some people say, how can you say he’s a great guy, but he’s fair. But I saw Karl Rove on a show the other night and the name Trump came up and you could see it was like a boiler ready to explode. I think the guy is a total incompetent jerk, but him and there are others. But I would say this, anybody that gives him, Karl Rove and others the group of losers, anybody that gives them money, you’re losers yourself, doesn’t make sense because they don’t know what they are doing.”
He overstates the position, but when people assume he is probably a little right, they still end up… Real Estate… thinking Rove is a loser to some degree.
Which brings us to hypnosis.
I love how “boiler” doesn’t fit and is even a little confusing, so you think about it for a minute, pondering how it doesn’t sound nice and happy (while you are still wondering why he just said “real estate”). While you are still confused he calls up the image of O’Reilly, who genuinely looks unhinged, and while you are thinking about that (and on some level wondering why he even mentioned it, since it is unrelated to anything he is talking about), he lays Karl Rove right into all those angry, unhinged images of O’Reilly the boiler, says Rove is a loser, and finishes with the statement “and there are others,” which everyone will agree with, and which will prevent the amygdala from negatively judging everything he just said, because everyone knows, “there are others.” Oh my God, he is right – Rove is an angry loser, boiling with rage.
Milton Erickson said confusion produces a state when the mind has a brief moment absent judgment (I suspect in hypnosis-prone individuals, the amygdala is overwhelmed with the confusion and doesn’t screen subsequent incoming stimuli for aversion triggers, nor will it reject anything actively). During that brief moment, you can give an idea to the mind, and it will accept it absent amygdalar scrutiny – that is hypnotic suggestion. There was reportedly even a handshake induction where you’d screw up the handshake in a confusing manner, and people would be so engrossed with the fact that your thumb was rubbing their wrist, that the hypnotist could slip something into their subconscious, follow it with a correct statement, and their brain would accept it all, absent judgment. The amygdala would actually actually attach approval emotions to it all in the brain.
I think Trump just used a hypnosis technique – blatantly – to occupy the crowd’s amygdala twice, attach negative emotional valences to Rove, and make him look like a loser about to pop. Not only is it brilliant, not only did he pull it off brilliantly, he showed he has testicles the size of basketballs to even try it. This won’t work on everyone, but on those it will work on, Trump just did it.
Now, Big Bird transmission…
Real Estate…
Trump… Winner.
Boiler… Angry… O’Reilly
Rove… Loser
Obama Sucks.
Do you follow?
GOPocalypse cometh™, and I really hope Trump is a good guy at his core, because he is a Wizard.

Pretty much validates everything we wrote about how to fight gun control last year, doesn’t it? Yep.
Trump is of course on a whole ‘nother level.

[…] Trump Talks to the Crowd Using Anchors and Hypnosis – […]
Are hypnosis prone individuals r or k?
I am not sure it relates to r or K, but if it does, it probably is related to being r. Hypnosis appears to be about shutting off, or bypassing the amygdala. In hypnosis they say you need to probe and bypass what is called resistance, which appears to be the amygdala kicking in to reject an idea. If you can keep the amygdala from kicking in, the subject absorbs what you say, and links the emotional idea you connect. I assume if you have someone who avoids conflict, it will be easier to bypass their amygdalae.
