Trump Allies Himself With The Police In The Public’s Eye

Look at the subconscious association:

In his remarks to officers Friday on Long Island, Trump appeared to endorse rougher treatment of suspects by police officers.
“When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddywagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice,” Trump said Friday.

“Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over?” the president continued. “Like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody. Don’t hit their head? I said, ‘You can take the hand away, OK?’”

All the Police were laughing, and for that moment it was Trump and the Police vs the guy who just murdered someone and got a bump on his head, as everyone laughed at him. That is a priceless image, all arguments over other stuff aside. Who do people see themselves as joined with?

That image was great, but then the media went and amplified it by replaying the moment for everyone again and again. They even overplayed their hand when they tried to make him out to be a racist for saying “paddywagon.” The media is grossly unfair to the President, but they are also stupid, and as a result, immensely useful to a master persuader.
