Toxoplasma gondii Associated With Intermittent Explosive Disorder

Is this associated with Trump Derangement Syndrome?

Research suggests that our furry feline friends might also be responsible for an unexpected emotional response: outbursts of anger.

University of Chicago researchers say a parasite commonly spread from cats to humans may play a role in impulsive aggression…

Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease that is most commonly transmitted through the feces of infected cats. People can contract it from handling cat litter. It can also be found in undercooked meat or contaminated water. The parasite that causes it, toxoplasma gondii, is carried by nearly 30 percent of all humans and in most cases is considered relatively harmless. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates more than 60 million people in the U.S. may have it.

However, in some people, the researchers found a link between the parasite and Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), a psychiatric disorder characterized by recurrent, impulsive, problematic outbursts of verbal or physical aggression that are disproportionate to the situations that trigger them…

The researchers discovered that the individuals with IED were more than twice as likely to test positive for toxoplasmosis exposure compared to the control group.

“Our work suggests that latent infection with the toxoplasma gondii parasite may change brain chemistry in a fashion that increases the risk of aggressive behavior,” Coccaro said in a press release.

Anger is extreme, unbearable aversive stimulus that forces action – any action. It is the unbearable nature of it which often leads the afflicted to use the most simple, violent, fast-acting solution, regardless of the longer term consequences. They need to bring it to an end immediately.

Uncontrollable rage in the face of minor stimuli is also a sign of an addled amygdala that cannot weigh long term consequences in the face of short term discomfort, or see its way to a permanent solution in accordance with all the other myriad of amygdala constraints, such as accordance with laws and moral boundaries.

It is not surprising that an infection which preferentially infects the amygdala and fills it with cysts would degrade amygdala function and produce these symptoms in many people who lack the excess amygdala-function to allow them to endure with such a handicap.

It would be fascinating to see the rates of T. gondii infection in Trump supporters vs the radical left. I bet the difference in infection rates would be startling.

Tell others about r/K Theory, because we need to make it spread faster than T. gondii in an SJW herd

Which explains why liberals support gun control. If you have an episode of uncontrollable rage on a Hillary island, people will rush to appease, comfort, and calm you down. Out here in Trump country, such behavior could get you double-tapped.

One third of the worlds pop, by the conditions listed, it’s probably mostly in the cities. Too many people, too little dirt, lots of cats. So… they are so screwed.
