When this first came out, I was surprised how cautious they were about using the terrorism word, and how hard they were trying to say he must have been on drugs. Now the story changes to yes, he drove over them purposely, but he had mental health problems:

Rojas, an ex-Navy veteran with a criminal history, barreled into crowds of people in the sidewalk at the Crossroads of the World with his Honda Accord, speeding on Seventh Avenue from West 42nd Street before crashing the car into a stanchion at West 45th Street…
Police sources said Friday that based on statements Rojas made and tests taken, it was determined Rojas was under the influence of a substance other than alcohol, which he ingested by smoking.
Rojas “exhibited signs [of the drug] PCP,” another high-ranking cop source said…
“It appears to be intentional in the sense that he was troubled and lashing out,” the mayor said.
Muslim mass murderers have never gotten high on drugs before an attack, so we can all rest easy.
On the radio, when they broke in to report live on the story, and before it was known it wasn’t terrorism, they pointed out ISIS had just released a video the previous day (which the media saw but didn’t report on), issuing a call for adherents do exactly what this guy did, getting a car and crashing into people.:

Whether this clown was a Muslim or not, judging by the eagerness to not wait to investigate, it is apparent that we are back to the game of claiming terrorists aren’t actually attacking us, because the left knows any persistent amygdala stimulation would have the effect of K-ifying the population, and driving people to rally around President Trump.
On the downside, were I an ISIS terrorist I could probably mow down fifty people in Times Square and claim the whole thing was an accident, and both the political leadership and the media would be desperate to prove my case and exonerate me, just to try and hurt the duly elected President of the United States.

Are there many/any cases of vehicular homicide for the insane? They usually just kill themselves/overdose. Rojas is likely a result of narcissism/childhood abuse then serving in a PC military unit that was probably stationed in the middle east, which is where he picked up the mooz. The Obama administration actively encouraged islam in all sectors of military/government, which is why he po’d service members and veterans so much.
Actually now I suspect it was terrorism. He was stationed in Jacksonville/Mayport, FL on the USS Carney- which does frequent rotations to the middle east. Someone radicalized him, they target the weak minded. This is his ship later performing other taxpayer funded “missions”. Who is the freaking idiot in 6th Fleet who thinks this is ok with MY taxes? My understanding is the modern suicide bomber is often gotten high by his handlers, to help make sure he doesn’t get cold feet. That and a remote so the handler can pull the trigger in case the bomber tries to back out.
Bataclan murderers were high as kites on Meth and Hashish. Helps a lot when you need to cut off testicles and gouge out eyeballs. That’s what they did to the victims before murdering them.

The proposition that religious motivations requires sobriety and mental stability is absurd. There is no doubt that millions of decidedly sane people are prepared to directly support Jihad. Yet time has taught me that human volition has a limited capacity to affect the course of institutions. The danger posed by Islam is not the outcome of malice, but the construction of the religion.
The Jihadists understand that an existential conflict has already begun. Our political leadership and evidently law enforcement do not appear to be so enlightened. (Though I would not underrate the extent of complicity.)
In this, the supposedly mentally deficient individual who perpetrated this attack is wiser than our learned prosecutors, psychiatrists and police. If sobriety and psychologically delineated rationality are the measure of culpability, these officials have much to answer for. As the legitimacy of managerial institutions erodes, answer they will.
