Lawmakers scuffled on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives on Monday after a Dallas-area Republican told Democrats that he called Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on protesters in the House gallery.
“We were just on the floor talking about the SB4 protests, and [state Rep.] Matt Rinaldi came up to us and made it a point to say, ‘I called (ICE) on all of them,’ ” state Rep. Philip Cortez (D) said. “And this is completely unacceptable. We will not be intimidated. We will not be disrespected…”
Video of the scuffle shows lawmakers pushing one another, yelling and gesticulating. Later, Democrats said, Rinaldi repeatedly got in their faces and cursed at them…
At one point, some of the language between the two sides apparently turned violent.
“There was a threat made from Representative Rinaldi to put a bullet in one of my colleagues’ heads,” state Rep. Justin Rodriguez said during the news conference. “That kind of threatening language, he needs to be called out and held accountable for.”
But Rinaldi said the threat went the other way — that state Rep. Poncho Nevárez (D) “threatened my life on the House floor.”
This is a good thing, to the extent it is exposing leftists to painful realities.
My general assumption has been that the leftist amygdalae would eventually burn out in the face of constant stimulation by the Trumpinator. I may have been wrong. What I may not have factored in was the sheer mendacity of the leftist MSM, and the effect of echo chambers produced by the explosion of outlets online.
Leftists, exposed to reality should see themselves failing endlessly and eventually give up at the cognitive level. Their amygdalae would get worked up, and the failure would prevent any release of all the negative energy, creating pain and training them to not continue getting worked up.
However leftists which are told each day that President Trump is about to be impeached, and the investigations are expanding, and polls of the nation are turning against the President, will be invigorated. Their amygdalae will learn that their outrage is productive, even if the reality is quite different.
The question for the left will be, can their outlets create enough false realities to condition leftists to feel rewarded over their outrages. If they can, they will sustain leftist energy, but that will come with a risk, since they will be detaching leftists from reality. In cases like this, leftists could end up initiating fights thinking they have numerical superiority, and disregarding Law Enforcement presence thinking they will be immune to the laws.
As reality plays out, the reality blindness could eventually cause them to end up getting their asses kicked by a numerically superior force of citizens, and then arrested and deported to boot. There is a cost to immersing yourself into a false reality, and detaching your amygdala from the reality of your circumstances. Reasonable dealings become impossible if both sides cannot agree on reality.
And all of that ignores the very real risk that the echo chamber of false reality is clearly pushing the split in our nation farther than it would go naturally. This practice could increase the risk of a real, violent civil war immeasurably.
There is much wrong with our society that the reality of the Apocalypse would cure.
Tell others about r/K Theory, because it is heating up out there
[…] Things Get Hot On The Texas House Floor […]
More and more support is coming up for, “rabbits don’t turn into wolves, they just get eaten.”
The activist part of the left is energized.
I know several leftists that still get outraged but are avoiding the news more and more.
Rinaldi would have been completely justified in ko’ing Nevarez. Until Dem-cuck party legislators start getting arrested for flagrant illegality and violence this will continue. The leftist ring-leaders probably want this to escalate, to claim victimhood/resistance. In reality it is an insurrection.
I live in Austin, the capitol of Texas. For the folks who are not familiar with the Texas government, here’s a few interesting points.
SB4 outlawing Sanctuary Cities was signed into law weeks ago.
That Monday was the last day of the regular Legislative Session. The Texas Legislature meets for less than six months every other year so the protests had absolutely no effect, the legislators can’t do anything until 2019 unless a special session is called by the Governor specifically to deal with the issue.
Most of the protestors were shipped in from out of state. I wonder who financed that?
