Whenever you see that need to redistribute wealth, you know lax sexual mores will not be far behind:
Pope Francis has said that Catholics must discern difficult situations of sexual morality on a case-by-case basis, even when presented with a person who is considering or has had gender reassignment surgery.
In a lengthy press conference aboard the papal flight back to Rome Oct. 2 after a weekend visit to Georgia and Azerbaijan, the pope said “you must take things as they come” and give time to accompany and discern individually with the various situations people are facing.
In times of K a K-strategist’s amygdala is on edge, and when you see that neighbor known for always talking about the orgies he attends, you feel heightened aversive stimulus. When the pandemic phase of the Apocalypse goes down, you are all set.
When times are r and you are a rabbit, your amygdala is too dreamy to feel that aversive stimulus properly, and suddenly that neighbor’s stories aren’t at all bothersome. When things turn K and your hand is rotting away from the new contagious strain of gangrene, you will be wishing you had been a K-strategist.
Unless the Catholic Church gets a K-Pope, I predict it will either split or lose massive membership once the Apocalypse hits. Functional amygdalae, and this Pope’s tolerance are not able to coexist.

“The National Catholic Reporter (NCR) is an independent biweekly newspaper in the United States which covers topics on the Catholic Church from a progressive perspective.”

I don’t know many media aware Catholics who speak favorably of National Catholic Reporter for the above reason. As for the current Pope, I’m not entirely sure he’s full r-selected. I’ve read news coverage which claims that he’s been speaking against gender theory. This pope has otherwise let it be understood that his stance on economic issues are very much aligned with the Catholic worker branch of thought, which very closely straddles socialism which as anyone can tell is a big problem globally, but especially in third world countries, which Latin America has a good number of. Unfortunately, the late Saint/Sir Thomas More’s influences on Catholic thought regarding society he posed in “Utopia” and peoples general ignorance of business operations and economics are the cause of this particular problem.
As the apocalypse progresses, I’m increasingly suspecting one of the reasons Pope Francis predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, resigned is more to do with Benedict, himself having lived through world war two and the aftermath in Europe, being far too K-selected for a western civilization still very much in the oblivious swing of r-selection. The twisted thing about all this is that the K’s have been quietly working their magic in the Catholic Churches. From what I’ve read of their history, regardless of whether r or K, they’re unanimous that they must getting ready for a persecution, which could mean just about any variety of responses from the lay community.
The Catholic Church has been in decline for a while now. http://cara.georgetown.edu/staff/webpages/GSS2a.jpg
There is a fair amount of debate on Christian forums about the liberalizing of the Catholic Church. Not too surprising that it isn’t all that popular (and the liberal leaning Pope is popular outside of his own church, fancy that!).
The problem with civilization is that it insulates its leader class from any sort of hardship. Being the last to feel whatever deprivation is afflicting their country, elites are late making the r-to-K switch, and likely to lose their heads as a result.
The British royal family used to combat this by sending young princes away to austere boarding schools where they had to e.g. chop a hole in the ice to take a bath. If you survive that place, you’re K-selected for life.
the pope is a communist, soviet style.
in times of R, in times of K, thinking of it this way just clarified the whole r/k thing to me. slow learner
