Russia’s media watchdog has extended its crackdown on internet pornography, banning two of the biggest porn sites in the world.
As of Tuesday, Pornhub and YouPorn now redirect Russian visitors to a page that says they’ve been blocked ‘by decision of public authorities.’
In response to the outcry that has since ensued, the agency behind the move has reiterated advice issued on Twitter last year following the ban of 11 popular porn sites – telling disgruntled users to ‘meet someone in real life.’
Eliminating porn eliminates a large (and essentially free) dopamine influx into large segments of the population. Although I have no idea to what degree you can impact porn availability on the internet, I do find it interesting the big heads at the top in Russia have decided to try.
This is almost certainly just K-leadership, led by probably the most K-leader in the world at this moment, eliminating what they are programmed to view as a distracting moral weakness which they do not like, probably with an additional desire to elevate birthrates.
However, if they actually knew about r/K Theory (this site got immense amounts of Russian traffic in it’s early days – something I found odd given the language barrier), this would be the first case of a nation using r/K Theory to consciously control the dopaminergic stimuli presented to their population and thereby mold the K-status of their population. If that were the case, they purposely began trying to elicit K within the populace by controlling stimuli, and the other nations did not catch on, I would have no problem predicting that Russia would be the next world superpower.
The inevitable result, if they were successful, would be an actual controlled remolding of human brains in the population, because you are removing a free and easy source of dopamine. It would, in a very real sense, be exactly as if you pulled a heroin addict off of the drug, only on a societal scale. In these cases, even small advances in each individual’s amygdala development, played out hundreds of millions of times, will be cumulative. The amygdalae of the population will begin to turn on more, people will become slightly more irritable over irritations, and they will begin actually caring about what they see around them. Where one minute, while totally sated on dopamine, you might not care about illegal immigrants, the next you might find it very irritating that the government is allowing all of these low IQ foreigners into your nation, with no plan for integrating them, and no concern for how their importation will affect your nation’s competitiveness.
K is self-sustaining, when it reaches a certain point. The irritation produced by a functional amygdala bleeds over onto r-stimuli you see around you, such as various forms of r-reinforcing hedonism, from porn, to infidelity, to lack of competitive spirit and loyalty to in-group. As the society attacks those r-stimuli, you go even more K. Add in a conscious tweaking of the system, by K-leaders at the top, and it is possible you could eradicate r for a good long time, though I remain convinced a return to r at some point is unavoidable, and programmed into the human machine – at least for now.
Unfortunately r is self reinforcing too. The amygdala atrophy it produces reinforces panicked demands for the free resources, the right to hedonism, and the importation of hostile foreign r-strategists that will all foster an increase in r. That mechanism peaks too, and it’s shift is totally unavoidable, since once a system is destroyed by r, resources cannot be made to magically reappear.
Clearly Russia, under President Putin, is on one side of the fence, but as the Apocalypse approaches, and President Trump ascends, we are quickly heading in the K-direction ourselves.

People who admitted using pornography had more egalitarian views towards a number of women’s issues, including in their attitudes towards abortion, women in the workplace and women in positions of power.
When it came to men, the biggest differences between users and non-users were in their views of women in power and abortion, with those who used pornography showing more positive attitudes.
The same was true for women who admitted using pornography.
Why would higher sexual drive correlate with views on dominant women’s roles and abortion?

I never heard about any russian politician explicitely mentioning r/K, but I have to admit, some writings of Eduard Limonov, Alexander Dugin and associated authors sound similar. I think it’s mere coincidence, as these authors avoid biology, but they claimed that the resource scarcity caused by communism actually helped russia by provoking a return to conservative/traditionalist values like family and loyality, while the “liberalism” of the west turned a large part of the western population into perverted, disloyal hedonists without any trace of former cultural glory. (I don’t remember where that was mentioned, but I think it was in “Putin versus Putin”)
When I read that, at first, I did not fully understand what he meant, but after I found your site, I started to see a connection between concepts.
So, it might be possible that many russian politicians know r/K in everything but name.
I think that is true of a lot of people. They see r/K, they know how it works, they just don’t have the name, and exactly how it works in nature.

I dislike government censorship, but I like that the russians try to fight porn. Porn is not an artistic product like other media, but messes up people’s brains. (It can even change the way people unconsciously look at women.) Especially for men who have trouble to get a girlfriend and therefore lack sexual experience in real life, porn can be extremely dangerous. (Just look what happened in japan with their disgusting moe/hentai culture. Even many people working in the japanese media industry, for example Hayao Miyazaki and Hideaki Anno, are disgusted by that. ) It’s especially bad for such people when they get easy access to eventhe most depraved and disgusting types of porn. (And it might harm the chances of such people to develop a healthy relationship in the real world. )
Porn is one of the most disgusting aspects of the modern “liberal” world and I can’t understand why many therapists claim porn consumption would be “healthy”. I think especially for men who have a girlfriend or wife, it’s a moral vice to watch porn.
I knew one man who was in a relationship with a woman looking like a supermodel. (No joke and no exaggeration. That guy lived the dream of most men.) But that man still watched a high dose of porn everyday. In the end, even his own mom chastized him for that (but he did not listen to her) and I thought she was so right. This type of behavior is not only disgusting, but also totally stupid.
Why should a man spend most of his time with an illusion, a mere thought, instead with his real “flesh and blood” girlfriend? Why should a man invest time in porn and not in the real relationship with his girlfriend? How stupid is that? Who would call that “healthy”? Who would gain an advantage out of such a behavior? Neither he, nor his girlfriend nor family, but only the vendor of the porn he consumed. (And maybe not even that, because he might watch free porn in the net.)
Our western MSM is downplaying this story. It isn’t just two porn sites, Russia has effectively banned all porn sites that don’t require a paid account. The justification of course is that free porn sites have no way of preventing children from accessing the content. 90% of porn consumers won’t use if they have to pay for it. Russia has also employed an army of shills to troll the crap out of people who complain about this online.
I knew you’d pick up on this story, there is no question that Russia is hardening up in anticipation of a third world war. Meanwhile the west is as soft and decadent as ever.

I respectfully disagree, isn’t this the functional point of social moral rules in the first place? Isn’t “slut shaming” and “porn/brothel” shaming as old as…well, the oldest profession?
