Reddit CEO Edited Posts By Fans Of The_Donald

The_Donald fans found their posts altered by a CEO irritated by Pizzagate, but that is not the interesting part:

Those users repeatedly left comments to the effect of “f**k u/spez” and other forms of abuse, including Huffman’s “u/spez” Reddit name in the post to make sure he was notified of each new message.

On Wednesday afternoon, members of “The_Donald” noticed that their posts had changed without their knowledge or consent: Instead of referencing Huffman himself, the posts now hurled the same expletives at the moderators of the “The_Donald” community.

… Huffman posted the following comment, confessing that it was him personally who was performing the changes (with expletives taken out):

“… As much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly. As the CEO, I shouldn’t play such games, and it’s all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won’t do this again.

Kind of curious comment, since what he altered was the “f**k u/spez” comments, which don’t mention pedophilia. Why did he feel as if everyone was calling him, specifically, a pedophile? His pic at the link doesn’t help. He has those glassy eyes that I associate with an amygdala forcibly thrown into neutral to shift it off.

I am now always suspicious of these founders of social media companies. Why Facebook, and not Myspace, or Friendster? I noticed back at the time that Facebook was the one that was always mentioned as the hot new thing in the media, and I wondered why everyone in the media seemed on the same page. I didn’t know anybody using facebook, though I knew a few people on Myspace. A part of me can’t help but wonder now if the successful companies weren’t in the zone because hidden forces had put them there.

Given the hidden forces may prefer protégés they can fully control, I now wonder if many of these overnight successes have skeletons in their closets that none of us would believe.
