Ranchers, Backfires, Terrorism, and Cliven Bundy’s sons

According to one report, Cliven Bundy’s sons took over some sort of uninhabited Federal wildlife building in Oregon, with the help of some militia guys:

Three of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s sons and what they claim are 150 militia members have occupied a federal building in eastern Oregon in order to keep two local ranchers out of prison, according to local reports.

The group is believed to be heavily-armed.

According to The Oregonian, the group seized the headquarters building at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge about 50 miles outside Burns, Ore. The remote facility was closed and unoccupied at the time.

Bundy and his supporters were in Oregon after two men were scheduled to go to prison on Monday for setting fires on federal land, according to a report by Oregon Public Broadcasting. The case has caused a stir in eastern Oregon because the two men were charged under anti-terrorism laws.

The whole story is somewhat muddled, with other accounts saying they are unarmed. A Freeper familiar with the area had this to say:

When I was in the States, I hunted Pheasant every fall on the refuge. It is miles from anything but ranches. They may not have even had to occupy the building, just bring in a few travel trailers and camp next to it. It is or was on one of the few little hills in the sage brush. There is a viewing tower on the hill as well. If the government had any sense, which it no longer does. They would just ignore them. There is not a thing they will upset, except maybe a few Pheasant and coyotes.

The incident they are protesting is a case of a couple of ranchers. The government says they set fire to brush on federal lands, it was arson, and they were sentenced to five years. They say they were burning brush on their property, it spread accidentally to federal land, and it wasn’t intentional, and definitely wasn’t terrorism or purposeful arson. Not having seen all the evidence, it is tough to say who is right.

Regardless, this type of action, before the nation is primed and ready for apocalypse will often prove counter-productive. Unless the underlying conditions are highly K-selecting, too much violence or threat in the presence of free resources will precipitate a movement toward the safety of rabbitry, just as too much rabbitry in the presence of resource restriction drives a population toward K.

We saw this with the Oklahoma City Bombing. Clinton used the image of a white military man who associated with militias and bombed a building in the presence of an economic turnaround, to drive the nation leftward. We are also seeing it today where the SJWs are destroying liberalism even more than it would have been wrecked had they kept their neuroses private.

Obama is looking for any white Christian cowboy type to portray as the enemy today, in an effort to out-group all of us. You need to be very careful about offering any type of a situation that could end up giving Obama what he wants – especially when the environmental/economic trends are so clearly in our favor.
