The word is popping up as frightened rabbits look out on an increasingly scary world:
President Obama on Friday night lashed out at Donald Trump and the Republican Party, accusing them of spreading hate…
Hate isn’t the way to make Britain – or America – great again…
Hours after United Kingdom did the unthinkable, voting to leave the European Union in a wave of populist vitriol unfairly directed at immigrants, Vice President Joe Biden took a moment during his visit to Ireland to say what so many Americans were surely thinking.
“All this,” he said of globalization, terrorism and mass migration, “provides fertile terrain for reactionary politicians and demagogues peddling xenophobia, nationalism and isolationism. We see it in Europe. We see it in other parts of the world and we see it in my home country, where some politicians find it convenient to scapegoat immigrants instead of welcoming them…”
If the United States learns anything from the U.K., it should be to not underestimate the power of that populist hatred and rage.
That is amygdala. Restrict that dopamine, introduce a little irritation, and suddenly everyone has a stinkeye. And dopamine is restricting:

As you are about to see, the total amount of stuff that is being bought, sold and shipped around the country by all these various methods has now been declining for 15 months in a row.
If it was just one or two months you could say that it was just an anomaly, but how in the world can anyone explain away 15 consecutive months?
Not only that, but the brand new number that just came out for May 2016 is the lowest number that we have seen for the month of May in 6 years.
Of course the number for April was the lowest number that we have seen for that month in 6 years too, and the number for March was also the lowest number that we have seen for that month in 6 years.
They can’t fudge those numbers, and that resource restriction is the seed of hatred. To rabbits it is terrifying, though to us it is merely a healthy way to avoid adversity in the future, by operating as if things are about to get bad now and everyone is already hostile.
Unfortunately, we have waited a little too long to start hating, meaning the bad is probably unavoidable at this point.
But bearing hatred, and seeing those we hate suffer, should go a long way to assuaging the discomfort.
[…] Rabbits Know That “Hate” Is Amygdala – And It Scares Them […]
They have acclimated us to being called racist and hateful. That’s the nature of stressors. Apply the stressor constantly, with incremental increases, and people will acclimated to it. It is the most fundamental part of our nature. We acclimate to stressors.
We have now acclimated to the stressor of being called hateful bigots. We no longer even notice it unless someone points out that we no longer notice it.
Rabbit stew. Yummy.
