Burning passions over Donald Trump’s presidency are taking a personal toll on both sides of the political divide. For Gayle McCormick, it is particularly wrenching: she has separated from her husband of 22 years.
The retired California prison guard, a self-described “Democrat leaning toward socialist,” was stunned when her husband casually mentioned during a lunch with friends last year that he planned to vote for Trump – a revelation she described as a “deal breaker.”
“It totally undid me that he could vote for Trump,” said McCormick, 73, who had not thought of leaving the conservative Republican before but felt “betrayed” by his support for Trump.
“I felt like I had been fooling myself,” she said. “It opened up areas between us I had not faced before. I realized how far I had gone in my life to accept things I would have never accepted when I was younger.”
That old bottle of wine was not about to get better with age. Voting for Trump was the wisest move that guy ever made.
Notice how this is the theme we saw in the Civil War, where brother fought brother and there was no middle ground, even in families. And the polarization is increasing, even as the ultimate amygdala stimulator, the epic economic Apocalypse approaches.
We are approaching the breakup of the United States, not because of Civil War, but because of financial incapability to maintain it. At that very moment when the US is most likely to spontaneously break up, the psychological terrain of the populace appears heading to be perfectly suited to have broken it up, even absent the financial catastrophe.
At the very moment when great sacrifice will be needed to preserve the nation, it would seem most people would be in a mood to destroy it, were it not already dissolving of it’s own volition. Just as with this couple, the big divorce is coming, and it wil not be amicable.
I will be surprised if the US is still a single entity by the time 2050 rolls around.
[…] President Donald J Trump Saves A Man’s Life […]
I think I commented on one of your other Blog posts.
The US has a period of “WHO THE HECK ARE WE?” about every 80 years where as a country we debate what it is to be an American. In 1770’s-1780s it was the Revolution, in 1850-1860 It was slavery. 1917 to 1945 it was are we a world player. these cycles come about in part because of r/K and in part because the question being asked has finally come to the fore.
Today? I’m not sure what the question is for today beyond “What is America?”. But it will not be resolved before about 2030, and we won’t understand it until about 10 or more years after that.
Interestingly enough, this about 80 period can be seen going back into England… in about 1690’s the English crown fought out what or who would rule England. Catholic English James 3 or Protestant Dutch William 1 (William won).
and 80 years is a bit fluid, because it is a build up and resolution, like a wave, and while the peak is at one point, the build and resolve can make it seem longer/shorter.
And the “who are we?” can also be viewed as a “how does the world work, how can I maximize that for my own dopamine” question.
Oh to see the look on its–I mean her–“face” when he strolls past with his cute young girlfriend, and his ex can do nothing to release her rage but strangle her cat.
I think a breakup of the US is exactly what Soros wants and is working towards. China combined with Pakistan and N. Korea have more nuclear weapons than we realized. In the future they will have more. US nuclear warheads by comparison are old and require significant maintenance. This is all done at 2 facilities, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico and Pantex Plant, Texas. You lose those you’re not going to have enough functional warheads to deter Asia, with thousands of new warheads based on stolen US designs (Wen Ho Lee). After the nuclear exchange, which the West will bare the brunt of the Chinese merchant fleets will sail millions of muslims/africans to any white/euro area and destroy them. Our navies won’t be able to stop it because post collapse, they won’t be sailing. All of this will happen years post Dollar collapse when people care more about food than fixing nukes or ships. Soros/China are smarter than any of us realized, they want to divide the West. Trump can’t undo decades of Bush/Clinton treasons, the US must remain united or Western Civilization could be destroyed.
Why do you believe the economy will collapse before the polarization escalates into war and not vice-versa? It seems status quo would be maintained up until and shortly after conflict has begun.
I think until people do not have enough to eat, their brains will always be designed to avoid conflict. Once the collapse happens, they will have to fight, and that will produce the more conflict-prone brain strucuture needed.
“…China combined with Pakistan and N. Korea have more nuclear weapons than we realized…”
I agree with this. China has large tunnel systems with re-loadable launching systems. This is a fact. Some students found them after an earthquake when some collapsed. We have no idea at all how many nukes China has. We should pull out of nuke treaties. Hide our nuke manufacturing in tunnels and build a large amount of shelters.
