Now The Flemish Want To Split From Belgium?

Apparently so:

FLEMISH dreams of a separate state from Belgium have been revived as the separatist leaders have been inspired by the mass Catalan demonstration in Brussels, providing yet another headache for the European Union leaders desperately trying to prevent the bloc from falling apart.

The drive by Catalans to form an independent country, separate from Spain has given fresh impetus to Flemish separatists who want to be independent from Belgium.

About a dozen members of the Flemish nationalist party New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), including the speaker of the Flemish Parliament, Jan Peumans, joined the huge demonstration on the streets of Brussels as the Catalans took their plight for self-determination to the heart of the European Union.

You won’t see a civil war anytime soon. But when even the Flemish are demanding independence, that feeds the general perceptions among other groups with greater desires and drives for independence. When the Flemish are acting as if they deserve independence, what will the Eastern European nations think in the face of EU demands they fill their countries with violent Muslims just to be a part of the EU? What will Basques think? Catalans? This is a result of the Overton Window slipping right from all the K-stimuli about, and it will itself open that window even wider on the right.

This is splintering, the end result of the increasing amygdala of the approaching K-shift. Before it is over, nations will be against nations, regions against regions, neighborhoods against neighborhoods, races against races, religions against religions, and clans against clans.

What is amazing is that such a world of conflict, animosity, and animus, where everyone has to fight all the time could be so much more pleasant than the peaceful, plentiful world of r-selection and the SJWs.

Tell everyone about r/K Theory, because conflict is a good thing

Flemish independence has been a serious movement for several decades. It’s only recently that the Belgium government was formed due to differences with the Flemish nationalists in forming a government. Flemish nationalists are the largest party in the region and have been for many years now. It’s most similar to the dynamic of Northern Italian separatism. Between 2007-2011 there was a constitutional crisis revolving around the shift of voters for the secessionists Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie (There is also the far-right Vlaams Belang, NVA isn’t far-right, generally most political parties in the Flemism region are now pro-independence or more autonomy) and it’s demands for more devolution of powers and Wallonia seeing the victory of traditionally unionist forces.

For over 6 months Belgium failed to form a government following the last general election in 2014. Of course the joke in Europe was how little it seemed to matter and thus why it lasted 6 months. It was caused by the same issues and involving the same players

There are devolved parliaments for each region similar to in the UK.

Their gripes (Other than nationalism per se) are that Wallonians generally can’t speak Dutch, but Flems can generally speak French. (In the mixed city of Brussels this leads to a deep resentment among Dutch-speakers as French becomes the lingua franca as a result of poor language skills of the Francophones) Wallonia is poorer (Not really it’s fault, it’s farther from the sea and thus not a place you’d expect big cities unlike in Flemish Belgium) and thus the Flemish region subsides the French region. (Despite originally the Dutch being looked down upon by the Wallonians as backwards as they were originally, another source of resentment)

Immigration policy of the combined country is too liberal (Nobody has a sense of ownership) and the large number of Francophone former colonies leads to high immigration for the whole country. Finally Brussels was originally a Dutch city but has through migration from Wallonia become a mixed city, so they already lost their capital to the union.

The Flams Belang demand independence since the Battle of the Golden Spurs. And then you ask them “Hey you realy wanna be closer to these Dutch people in degenerate Amsterdam that smoke dope and bang hookers and where there are foreigners everywhere?” and then they change their mind.

OT: what does it mean when I want to perform dental work, with a baseball bat, on a man I’ve never met, based on his Twitter avatar and a single comment?
