Goodell has just spent $100 Million to invite future blackmail:
The NFL and a group of players reached an agreement in principle late Wednesday night to partner on a plan to address social justice issues considered important to African-American communities, ESPN has learned.
The unprecedented agreement calls for the league to contribute nearly $100 million over seven years to projects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations and education.
The agreement does not include language calling for players to end protests during the national anthem in exchange for funds; there’s no implicit quid pro quo. But the NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful yet controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started in 2016, when he refused to stand for the anthem.
So if you patronize the NFL, you are supporting getting cops killed due to the NFL supporting #BlackLivesMatters. You will also be supporting the Democratic Party against President Trump, since whenever money like that is released, the political groups grab it for voter turnout. That might as well be a $100 Million donation to the ultra-left to turn out resistance votes to President Trump and his agenda.
It seems totally illogical. Had Goodell merely fired Kapernick immediately, he would have saved $100 million dollars and the NFL Fanbase. But none of this is logic. This is the conflict aversion produced by the amygdala atrophy of r-selection. Conflict aversion is such a strong instinct, it not only overrides logic – the afflicted actually think abiding by the instinct is logic. To Goodell, avoiding any conflict with the SJWs is more important than increasing, or even just not losing the NFL fanbase.
If the environment were more K, Goodell’s amygdala would have been irritated and looking for a fight, and Goodell would have been pissed off at the beginning. Firing Kapernick would have felt good, and he would have enjoyed doing it. It would have been amygdala relief. But Goodell’s amygdala is so shut off that it is terrified of any activation, and since there is plenty of cash flowing around for now, what scared him was the threat of being criticized by leftists and feeling as if his status was lowered. So he took the short term strategy, and has been doing it, using r-instincts, all along the way as his entire operation declines into oblivion.
As always, in the NFL we now just wait on the Apocalypse that r-selection will always produce.
