However not all images had that stamp under the ballot printing, as would be expected if it was standard compression applied uniformly to all images. In short, it sounds like bullshit.

As a retired subject matter expert in pharmaceutical manufacturing including injectable dose forms, the manufacturing equipment parts that are in direct contact with the sterile liquid are normally manufactured from 316L stainless steel. While it is possible that damage to part of the machinery could cause minute particles of the 316L to be found in the finished product, in general this type of stainless steel is not considered to be magnetic. So yes, the cause could be “human error” in operation or maintenance of some equipment. I am not familiar with the container closure system for these dose forms, and presume it is a rubber stopper crimped on to the vial. It is very unlikely the problem would have been in the part of the operation that places the stopper in the vial and then crimps it closed.

According to my Dad, they developed the 3xx series at LLNL for the magnets at the NIF. They tried 303 for a 12 Tesla magnet and it cold flowed together. So back to the drawing board. Dad says that 316 machines very well, 303 does NOT – gummy as hell.
If you notice, knife makers and firearms manufacturers tend not to use the 3xx series as far as I can tell. My M&P shield and stainless knives are all magnetic. I see 416 listed a lot.

I think that is the NEW plan, or more likely a backup plan which they don’t have a choice but to implement.
