My family is seriously looking at emigrating now. My parents were involved in state level GOP politics when I was a kid, so we’re all on a list somewhere. Abstract:
Students at North American universities risk disenrollment due to third dose COVID-19 vaccine mandates. We present a risk-benefit assessment of boosters in this age group and provide five ethical arguments against mandates. We estimate that 22,000 – 30,000 previously uninfected adults aged 18-29 must be boosted with an mRNA vaccine to prevent one COVID-19 hospitalisation. Using CDC and sponsor-reported adverse event data, we find that booster mandates may cause a net expected harm: per COVID-19 hospitalisation prevented in previously uninfected young adults, we anticipate 18 to 98 serious adverse events, including 1.7 to 3.0 booster-associated myocarditis cases in males, and 1,373 to 3,234 cases of grade ≥3 reactogenicity which interferes with daily activities. Given the high prevalence of post-infection immunity, this risk-benefit profile is even less favourable. University booster mandates are unethical because: 1) no formal risk-benefit assessment exists for this age group; 2) vaccine mandates may result in a net expected harm to individual young people; 3) mandates are not proportionate: expected harms are not outweighed by public health benefits given the modest and transient effectiveness of vaccines against transmission; 4) US mandates violate the reciprocity principle because rare serious vaccine-related harms will not be reliably compensated due to gaps in current vaccine injury schemes; and 5) mandates create wider social harms. We consider counter-arguments such as a desire for socialisation and safety and show that such arguments lack scientific and/or ethical support. Finally, we discuss the relevance of our analysis for current 2-dose CCOVIDovid-19 vaccine mandates in North America.

In general, people shot by handguns don’t just fall over dead, unless it’s a direct CNS shot. That usually means a shot to the head or neck, which will produce copious bleeding. There was barely any blood.
If she was shot below the neck, consider how thin the spinal cord actually is. Most handgun incapacitation is the result of pain and blood loss. It’s possible that this blood loss would be absorbed by her clothes, but that raises another glaring problem…
The officers on the scene who attended to her have a responsibility to provide a level of care consistent with their training. I’m absolutely certain all police officers on the scene would have at least standard DOT First Responder level of EMS (it’s not very much), basically just CPR and basic blood loss treatment. By law they’d be required to secure the patient and attempt to secure ABCs, airway-breathing-circulation. This means finding any source of blood loss through a patient exam.
No first responder just sits there and kind of fiddles with the patient. They should have been searching for a wound and, if necessary, preparing to ventilate the patient (provide respirations with mouth to mouth.)
Every basic protocol was broken for dealing with a patient.
Besides, if someone was actually shot people would have likely scattered. If you were in that situation and someone next to you was just shot, what would you do? Continue milling about?

Dude on the New York Subway hears somebody speaking Portuguese, decides he will beat him up as an example, and finds out who Brazilian Juijitsu legend Renzo Gracie is.

Probably a publicity stunt.
I trained at Renzo’s years ago and trained with many guys that know him quite well.
Renzo is the nicest guy in the world, unless you insult him, and then he will definitely bring the pain.
He has had many street fights in NYC, as he’s lived here for nearly 30 years, and had many more fights, both street and professional, when he grew up in Brazil.
Several of his other fights were caught on cameras, and many guys I know have seen Renzo fight at bars.
In this instance, the fight is real because Renzo is real, and yes, scuffles happen frequently on the NYC subway system.
It’s not unusual in the least, nor is it unusual that Renzo was recorded because everyone is ready to take out their phone at a moments notice.
He’s a legendary fighter and comes from the family that brought Gracie Jiu Jitsu and MMA to the U.S.
A member of the German legislature is openly warning that September 24th will be a day when everyone will remember “exactly where he or she was.” Not clear what they are talking about. Some say he mis-spoke and meant February 24 but that makes no sense as nobody now remembers where they were then.

That is pretty wild. About 7 years ago (per my dream diary) I had a dream where I could access magazines from the future and there was a disaster on 9/23 involving a Russian oil tanker and a cruise ship. But in my dream i couldn’t see the year. I wondered about that for a long time and so it’s interesting that the date must have been imprinted on my subconscious via movies and TV

I grew up in orbit of Silicon Valley surrounded by suburban white leftards. NONE of them would even consider something like this. Hell, none of my public school teachers would have considered this.
