Migrants Are r-strategists – Undocumented Columbia Students Issue Demands

Entitlement is an outgrowth of the expectation of r-selecting free resources:

Illegal immigrants at Columbia University are demanding free health coverage along with mandatory “sensitivity training” for professors and staff.

“We refuse to amend or change any of these demands,” the group UndoCU began their 13-point list. “We expect the university to act,” they said, lamenting Columbia’s “lack of intrinsic interest in its [illegal] students.”

One of the more audacious demands calls for “full reimbursement of the health insurance fees,” complaining that the university’s International Students and Scholars Office only refunds “portions of these fees…”

UndoCU also demands “specialized fundraising for undocumented students,” in order to create “undocumented student[-]specific scholarships and grants” for illegal immigrant students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

“Need[-]based funding must be available for undocumented students at all Columbia University and affiliate schools,” the ultimatum continues, referring to affiliates such as Barnard College and Union Theological Seminary.

Upset at the use of the term “illegal,” the group also demands “sensitivity training” for professors and staff at Columbia…

“Much like sexual health training, it is imperative that immigration subjects be treated with the proper language and information…”

The students also want Columbia to provide them with guaranteed summer housing, which they imply should be at least partially subsidized, along with hiring “counselors trained in trauma” and career advisors trained to help illegal immigrant students…

Columbia has in fact taken numerous step to support illegal immigrant students… noting that it has designated a liaison between undocumented students and the administration, arranged pro-bono legal representation, and even provides support from Counseling and Psychological Services.

Free health care, free housing, free legal, free counseling, free scholarships, free career counselors, free grants, and that is all just expected.

Notice they even point to the “Sexual Health Classes” as a model of how instructors must conduct themselves at all times to not stimulate anyone’s amygdalae in any way. What field are these people majoring in that wastes credits on something so stupid? In STEM, most of your credits go to classes that are productive toward teaching you valuable information, and the few required additional credits outside your major will be in humanities, which at least are of use to English and history teachers. Of what career value is a sexual health class?

Again, these are rabbits. They are not designed to perform arduous duty in pursuit of objectives. They are designed to take free classes in easy subjects, while being given free housing and free health care, and then be given a free job that will pay them free money, and nobody should ever complain, or show any loyalty to their fellow citizens by opposing the free resources buffet. Indeed, in the rabbit’s mind, there is no reason to oppose it, because resources are free, and there are plenty for everybody. If you oppose this, there is something wrong with you.

This will last until resources are cut short. When federal grants to the colleges disappear, jobs are scant, and everyone begins to view outsiders who are coming in as having a tangible cost to our people, everyone will agree that they will all have to go back.

Until then we just have to hold back the tide as best we can.
