Signs Of A K-shift – Internment Is Back

What was old is new again:

Not just in the UK, but throughout Europe and America, more and more people are calling for those on terrorist watch lists to be interred, and even some major politicians are floating the idea now, too. But historically, no one has ever been proud of taking this action. It is a step too far and risks the Liberties of everyone, not just potential Jihadis.

When sweeping new powers are awarded to a government, it is never long before the powers are used against ordinairy citizens; and in a world that is increasingly persecuting those with Conservative views (and especially those that prize the Second Amendment highly), how long would it take for politicians to begin using these laws as a way of hitting out at those who disagree politically?

Once we allow government new powers, you can be sure of two things:

They will never take these powers off the law books. They will find ways to exercise these powers for political ends.

According to intel professionals in Europe, it is already happening. An American intel guy said in an article that his French counterpart was bragging about how their de-radicalization program was so effective. They’d grab up the radicals off the street, put them in a program, and something like 58% would de-radicalize and be able to be released. The American asked, “What about the other 42%?” The Frenchman said, “We keep them.”

All of this is amygdala weighting. If the terrorism threat rises to the point that amygdalae cannot tolerate it, things will progress to the internment of radicals, and then proceed through the expulsion of all Muslims, expulsions of all foreigners, and even war, if the threat gets bad enough.

What is interesting is that the amygdala is not static in how it processes threat. If things are great and dopamine is flowing, a relatively high threat can elicit minor amygdala-stimulation, and if things are harsh, even a minor threat can trigger immense amygdala response. Add in amygdala development, like the intel guys who see the threat as more of a threat because of experience, and you head even more toward the K-pattern of behavior.

Given we are facing a more or less total debt Apocalypse at some point, and by then amygdalae appear as if they will be pretty well developed in the run-up to it, and I would definitely expect that what was old will be new again.

And by old, I am thinking of the Crusades, only this time waged with radiological poisons and infectious agents.
