A woman who climbed up to the robes of the Statue of Liberty to protest the separation of migrant families was taken into custody after a standoff with police on the Fourth of July…

About 16 officers with the New York City Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit — a team trained to perform some of the most dangerous rescues in the city — took part in the rescue/apprehension effort, Officer Brian Glacken said in a news conference Wednesday evening.

“At first, she wasn’t friendly with us, but we took the time to get a rapport with her so that took a while,” said Glacken… “In the beginning, she threatened to push us off, push the ladder off, but we stayed with her,” Glacken added.

Finally, officers with ropes and climbing gear reached her.

“At first she was being a little combative…”

Earlier, other protesters unfurled a banner over a railing around the base of the statue saying “Abolish ICE!”…

Liberty Island was evacuated during the police action, according to Willis.

Tourist Tiana Smith of Atlanta said she was walking toward the statue during a tour Wednesday afternoon when the workers there started telling everyone to turn back.

“We got towards the ferry to ride back and we saw the SWAT team get off, and the police officers came with their harness and the helicopters, so we were like, yeah, we just need to go,” she told CNN.

Statue Cruises, which provides trips to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, had to turn away as many as 3,000 people because of the statue climber, company representative Rafael Abreu told CNN.

Public records show that Okoumou has a long history of fighting social justice battles, even her own.

In 2003, she filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit, charging racial discrimination after being fired from a job as a staffer at a battered women’s home called Safe Horizons. Okoumou’s boss complained that she was rude to other staffers and clients at the shelter, according to court records. Her lawyer eventually withdrew from the case and she represented herself, unsuccessfully for the remainder of the case.

She won $1,500 in a 2009 racial discrimination lawsuit against a Staten Island towing company, County Recovery.

She unsuccessfully filed a human rights complaint in 2007 against a group home in Staten Island for racial discrimination.
“It doesn’t surprise me,” Tito Rivera, the superintendent of her apartment building said. “She’s very outspoken about the Trump administration.”

A woman who lives in her building said… “She can be very nice and she can be a b—h,” said the woman, who declined to give her name. “When I vacuum, she bangs on the wall. I bang back, and she put a dent in my door.”

So basically, this immigrant comes to the US, is allowed to join the nation, and immediately turns around, destroys the July 4th Holiday for thousands of other real Americans, damages the income of one of our small businesses that does tours of the Statue, threatens to throw our Police off a 150ft platform, demands the destruction of a Law Enforcement agency which enforces the laws our elected leaders write, sues real Americans and demands money because she feels slighted, assails and dents a real American’s door because they ran a vacuum, and orders us all to allow unlimited numbers of others just like her into the country, so they can ruin our holidays, hurt our small businesses, demand our law enforcement agencies be dissolved, dent our doors, sue us, threaten our Police, and demand even more like them be let in.
