Interesting datapoint on the approach of K:
Housing prices are soaring here [Seattle] thanks to the tech industry, but the boom comes with a consequence: A surge in homelessness marked by 400 unauthorized tent camps in parks, under bridges, on freeway medians and along busy sidewalks. The liberal city is trying to figure out what to do.
“I’ve got economically zero unemployment in my city, and I’ve got thousands of homeless people that actually are working and just can’t afford housing,” said Seattle City Councilman Mike O’Brien. “There’s nowhere for these folks to move to.” That struggle is not Seattle’s alone. A homeless crisis is rocking the entire West Coast, pushing abject poverty into the open like never before.
Public health is at risk, several cities have declared states of emergency, and cities and counties are spending millions — in some cases billions — in a search for solutions.
San Diego now scrubs its sidewalks with bleach to counter a deadly hepatitis A outbreak. In Anaheim, 400 people sleep along a bike path in the shadow of Angel Stadium. Organizers in Portland lit incense at an outdoor food festival to cover up the stench of urine in a parking lot where vendors set up shop.
On the one hand, it is a sign of people lacking the resources to have a home and the continued decline, but it is also a measure of psychologies that can function under harsher environments. I would imagine accepting that you have no home and just resolving to meet each adversity is a K-building endeavor. And as amygdalae develop under uncomfortable circumstances, they will build the drive to act to ameliorate them.
Still, these are the ingredients revolutions and periods of unrest are built from. In truth what keeps us civil is what we have to lose if we become uncivil. How many of us tolerated the destruction of our nation because we had so much, that the idea of losing it was too painful to take any concrete action.
Take away all the comforts, the safety, and the things which people value, and their amygdala-threshold for taking action will plummet.
No wonder all the super rich are building fortified compounds in far away isolated areas.
Jokes on the open borders richie-rich types. Their security is just going to open their throat and leave them on the side of the highway.
Homelessness … scratch that, the number of bums increased here in Colorado when they legalized weed because young, dumb potheads moved here from hither and yon so they could buy pot and they sit on the street corners begging money to pay for it. So something similar could also be happening in California (just wish some of the bums here would move back to CA).
(off-topic)
I just found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuum_(magazine)
>Continuum was a magazine published by an activist group of the same name who denied the existence of HIV/AIDS.
>Favoring pseudoscientific content, the magazine addressed issues related to HIV/AIDS, AIDS denialism, alternative medicine, and themes of interest to the LGBT community. It ran from December 1992 until February 2001, ceasing publication because all the contributors had died of AIDS-defining clinical conditions.
This is almost comical in its instructiveness towards r’s rejection of reality.
Another thing, as we share a common interest in body language and related pattern analysis and amygdala-involvement:
This is the staff of a restaurant that advertises having an all-HIV-positive staff.
I sense I can detect the “liberal eyes”

Do a google image search for
liberal crazy eyes
You should recognize it, too.
It looks like a constant expression of surprise, or even fear. At any rate, constantly startled.
Another pattern I observe often with them seems like an expression of sadness, constant sadness,
and arched-upwards eyebrows, here as a cartoon example:
Another phenomenon:
https://www.livescience.com/9205-political-leanings-revealed-eyes.html
Also, I seem to have noticed that r+K seem to dress differently, differing in their self-presentation:
Ks mostly seem to favor mono-colored, practical, “boring”, clothing,
while rs seem to lean towards wild patterns, wild colors, outrageous features in clothing that have no practical purpose, other than to stimulate the senses of the observer.
Same with hair: Weird coloring and hairdos are almost completely found on the “Hippie” side of the r/K-spectrum.
I also think I detected a trend regarding footwear:
Ks seem to favor simple, sturdy, practical shoes, mostly made from dark leather,
while the rs (leftists) are typically wearing colorful shoes that are made from lighter materials,
like cloth, and are of weaker, less reliable and less sturdy construction, but with incorporated patterns and symbols, for example different-colored soles.
Once I felt I noticed this I kept keeping tabs on this matter and found it everywhere.
It’s not written in stone like a natural law, but still very noticeable.

The picture is somewhat small, but it shows typical features of the r-selected.
Excellent observations. My own line up pretty much exactly with yours. The gaudy hair colors, tattoos, piercings, and the shocked expression even when calm, all indicate r to me as well. I also have been able to pick out K vs r by their vocal tone and speech cadence. One sounds grounded and directive even when saying good morning, and the other is the exact opposite, though sometimes you get someone who is clearly r but has a soothsayer-sounding voice that presents as pleasant and warm.
(ADDENDUM)
Concerning the divide in footwear I think I have noticed:
Consider sandals. Another kind of shoe that is largely restricted to hippie-/r-type people.
I suspect it is about lack of foresight or lack of fear (hello amygdala) – Ks may sub- or half-consciously fear all the garbage and animals and dirt that may harm their feet, and therefore chose strong, reliable and protective footwear, like ordinary leather shoes – while the rs seem to not care about the dangers and the muck they may are exposed to and wear open, weak-material shoes that leave their valuable feet exposed and in danger of being easily damaged.
I hope that sounds not too weird.
But I suspect that Ks choose clothing largely for its utility function (cheap, orderly, protective, respectable, reliable), while rs use clothing first and foremost as apparel to express their emotions, feelings, opinions – not so much as tools or protection against the dangers of the world, more like a painting they happen to wear on their bodies, like just another thing that provides pleasure (social self-signalling, at least in women and narcissists, activates the reward center in the brain, therefore it is voluntary behavior).
Females and men, of course, differ also somewhat based on their sex in these matters, but this is obviously driven by the female need to signal their bodily qualities, in terms of shape and youthfulness – they can be expected to rank aspects of practical utility lower in exchange for tight shapes and leaving more skin visible. Still, I wonder if there would be a difference between r- and K- females, for example the first rather wearing more frequently flipflops, while the latter would more frequently sex-signal with more protective footwear (that still look sexy, that is, expose related body parts), perhaps ballerinas or pumps.
(But perhaps I take these things too far and I try to see patterns in random information).
I’d say all of that makes perfect sense to me. It is the old socially climbing r vs utilitarian K.
I do think the colors are triggering dopamine, like the old Hippie Tye-dyed shirts.
I always wear boots if I’m going to be doing anything that is possibly risky, even working in my own garage where I might drop a tool on my foot. When I look at how trashed the uppers of my boots are, I see damage that did not happen to my feet.
Oregon’s gov. Kate brown just signed an exechtive order mandating that housing codes require a net zero energy balance by 2020 or something close to that. The housing shortage has a lot to do with idiot regulations on the west coast especially if the homeless are holding a job.
OT: what is wrong with Rand Paul’s face here? I want to like him, but Something is firing in my brain, saying “DO NOT TRUST, DO NOT TRUST!”
His face seems so… Stiff. Nasolabial issues?
It is the mouth. I see what you are saying, and could not put it together myself initially. Something was off. So I did a bifurcation:
Rand is left handed. His real, less conscioulsy controlled (right) side looks immensely pleased on top, but his mouth has the appearance of either someone holding something in, like a secret, or enduring something. In the end it looks like he wants to laugh at you but is holding it in. (Which is strange because that should be an honest, uncontrolled expression, which in a normal person would smile fully and not hold it in. The holding it in should be even more apparent on his left side, if that is so.) His left side looks less happy up top, but the mouth is in more of a turned up smile, though I suppose it does also look even more like he is trying to hold the smile in conscioulsy more.
It makes the left side weird, because he actually seems to be mixing more of a polite smile, with more of an attempt to hold a broad smile in. It is like he wants to smile big because of his wife’s prettiness, but he is holding it in because that would be too geeky and not be James Bond cool, but then he lays a polite smile on top of that, making his mouth look all messed up as all the muscles pull in all directions simultaneously.
I think it comes off discomfiting partly because a smiling right eye is paired with a non-smiling right mouth, while a non-smiling left eye is paired with a slightly more smiling left mouth. Mouths and eyes should be on the same page on the same side. Deep down your brain knows that, and this face violates that principle. Plus if he wer right handed, it would be a smiling projected eye with a non-smiling real eye. And I think partly it is irksome because it looks like his mouth is holding back laughing at us, which people may instinctually dislike.
Over all, given he is left handed, it almost feels like he is so pleased at how pretty his wife is, he is dying to openly laugh at the viewer for erroneously thinking he was a geek who couldn’t land a pretty girl, all while he desperately tries to contain his own geekish glee and improper urge to jump up and down, saying “Neener neener! Look at the wife I scored! And you all thought I was a geek! Neener Neener!”
It makes me think he may be a funny guy to know personally.
Since K-strategists require a baseline of high resources to have the greatness that comes with it. The best way for K-strategy to truly win is to eradicate predation however they can. As long as predation pressure exists the more the r-strategy will predominate. Since carrying capacity will never be reached. But with the eradication of predation pressure the more carrying capacity is reached and the more K-selection that occurs to ensure greatness.

Sorry Anon, I think this is a manifestation of FSA – Free Shit Army. It’s all about getting free stuff where the weather is good. With some K’s cracking heads they would go elsewhere. Sit on the corner, bum money, get free food, live outside, what’s not to like? rabbits everywhere avoiding hardship, whether mental or physical
