Flu Season Is Picking Up

This year’s is a nasty one:

Experts are warning that this year’s flu season could be even worse than you’re used to. That includes deaths from the virus.

They’re pointing to issues with the composition of the most recent vaccine as the reason for the sneezing.

The flu shots used in Australia — which are similar to what’s used in the U.S. — were only about 10 percent effective. What concerns experts is that, when it comes to the flu, how the southern hemisphere is impacted tends to serve as a precursor to how hard the U.S. will be hit…

“What happened is, in the development of the vaccine, as we grow it in eggs, the virus itself mutated a bit, so that there was almost an accidental mismatch purely on the basis of the virus trying to adapt itself to growing in eggs, which is the way you make the vaccine,” Fauci said…

In addition to using a similar vaccine, the dominant strain of flu virus in Australia also appears to be the same — and it’s a mean one…

“It’s the one that tends to make people more severely ill.”

Free Republic has had a couple of threads now on this, where posters who have gotten it have attested to it being the worst flu they have ever had, and said it overcame their vaccinations.

One thought I have had is if you wash your hands religiously and use hand sanitizer when you can’t, the primary threat may be food. Buy your food right after work, bring it right home to eat, and it is possible it could carry virus particles it acquired in the store into your home, and contaminate your food space.

Flu has a fairly short half-life outside of the human body. Under optimal conditions, on a hard, smooth surface, it will survive only about 24-48 hours. As you get to materials like tissue, that lifespan drops to about 15 minutes. So if you can transport food into your home, place it aside, and store it for 2 days before using it, you may avoid infection far better than if you bring food home and immediately move it to the food space and prepare it for consumption, or worse, if you dine out or eat fast food.

Sooner or later the ability to avoid things like this will be a key trait favored by Darwin. Begin practicing now to examine your procedures and assess your vulnerabilities. One day, you life will depend upon it.

Spread r/K Theory, because it is contagious

I had this moment when i was at a supermarket and that nasty old cashier woman was coughing realy nasty into her hands before again she was grabbing products and money with those hands. At first i was totaly disgusted and wished robots would replace these useless people right now already, we already have some automated checkouts here, but then i thought about all the bugmen this old hag would infect with her diseases and wasn’t so angry anymore. lol

As global populations grow and become more connected Influenza naturally evolves to be more contagious. Rearrange a few proteins and you’ll eventually have a highly infectious, and highly lethal (like 90-99% CFR).

Also this is a great r vs. K test. Answer honestly.
flying home for Christmas would you rather wear this through an airport?

Goes without saying.

The flu vaccine is only 10% effective? In today’s world that could be interpreted as the vaccine only kills 10% of the recipients.

Too bad we can’t actually depend on the vaccine manufacturers not to put some kind of contamination in the vaccines. A trusted vaccine system could be very helpful.

A bright side is that this will give our immune systems some exercise. It is better to have them in top shape when the really dangerous diseases start moving from the migrant enclaves into our own.
