An FBI agent’s reference to “an insurance policy” in a much-debated text message was meant to convey that the bureau needed to aggressively investigate allegations of collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia, according to people familiar with his account.
The agent didn’t intend to suggest a secret plan to harm the candidate but rather address a colleague who believed the Federal Bureau of Investigation could take its time because Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was certain to win the election, the people said.
[Paragraph 10] The text came after a meeting involving Ms. Page, Mr. Strzok and FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according to people close to the pair and familiar with their version of events. At the meeting, Ms. Page suggested they could take their time investigating the alleged collusion because Mrs. Clinton was likely to win, the people said.
If they move more deliberately, she argued, they could reduce the risk of burning sensitive sources.
Mr. Strzok felt otherwise, according to these people.
His text was meant to convey his belief that the investigation couldn’t afford to take a more measured approach because Mr. Trump could very well win the election, they said. It would be better to be aggressive and gather evidence quickly, he believed, because some of Mr. Trump’s associates could land administration jobs and it was important to know if they had colluded with Russia.
Clearly they are scrambling for a cover story which makes them into the law and order patriots, trying to protect America. The problem is the text was pretty clear. She said there was no way Donald could win, and Strzok replied that although he wanted to believe that, they needed an insurance policy in case Trump did win, and then he likened Trump winning to dying at 40. There is no massaging that. The Russia investigation, presumably with Mueller coming in as a special prosecutor and gathering whatever he could to attack Donald with, was the insurance policy to take out Trump, after he was lawfully elected by the people. Between this and the illegal FISA surveillance, they have a problem.
Kallstrom, a former Marine captain and Vietnam veteran, told FBN host Liz MacDonald that if an FBI agent wanted to stop someone from becoming President, “I think he can do what [Strzok] tried to do,” adding “He can fabricate things, he can make stuff up, he can lie, he can be a total moron.”
“You know, he belongs in Leavenworth this guy, in my personal view… “He belongs in Leavenworth. He belongs behind bars. These things cannot happen in a democracy.””
“I’m coming more and more to the conclusion that this is a conspiratorial cabal among the fifth column to basically take away the presidency of the United States,” Kallstrom said, adding “This whole thing with Russia is just a farce. If we find out that that phony [Russian dossier] was brought to the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in the form of an affidavit for a judge’s authority, and if we find out that the people signing that affidavit in the bureau knew that that was phony information, that is a serious, serious felony.”
This is the most powerful covert domestic intelligence agency in our nation. It is a covert intelligence machine that is always operating at the hairy edge of propriety, complete with a shockingly massive informer network with tentacles everywhere, extensive in-person and technical surveillance assets which nobody would believe the capabilities of, as well as a robust direct-action component in the HRT. And these leaders were looking to fully disregard the results of a lawful constitutional election, and overturn it all by themselves, using all of the powers of an American intelligence agency.
This is Jon Voight, in Enemy of the State, using his agency’s powers in ways no lawful democracy can ever tolerate.
And now they have been caught. I cannot imagine the amygdala. Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr was set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee today, and just never showed up.
This has to be just the beginning of something which, if it is hashed out in public, will be a historic watershed moment in American politics. Watergate, JFK’s assassination, Clinton’s impeachment – it is all nothing compared to rogue intelligence agents trying to use the powers of their agencies to alter an electoral outcome, and then preparing an insurance policy to take out the President after the election when their favored candidate did not win.
I do not see how there is not a major purge of the entire FBI leadership that came up under Obama and Clinton, and a restructuring of it’s entire suite of powers and capabilities to keep it out of elections. Trump is no dummie. This cannot ever happen again.
Fortunately there will be no shortage of rank and file agents with attitudes like Kalstrom’s, to promote up the ladder who will understand how to enforce the law, without trying to run the electoral process and select the winners.
There is one other lesson here. These were career intelligence officers, who spent entire lives working in counter-intelligence, pitting their skills against top-level spies, in the most powerful domestic intelligence agency. And Donald has, so far, wiped the floor with them. It must be so embarrassing.
Don’t mess with the Donald.
Tell others about r/K Theory, because it is like watching Donald Kick Leftist Ass
The story that can never be written was the hero in all this, General Michael Flynn.
Flynn got a rogue agent, who cleared Hillary and Huma of lying and mishandling of classified information, to charge him with a process crime which carries a slap on the wrist penalty and a revocation of all previous non disclosure agreements and a mandate to report ALL CRIMES he has witnessed.
All crimes, in any capacity of his career.
He did, after all, have a story to tell…
Do they really have anything to worry about? Recent events have shown that they won’t get really fired or lose their pensions. Forget going to prison. At most a tongue wagging and a symbolic “demotion” to placate the masses. After all, swamp creatures protect each other against their sworn common enemy; the American people.
If you study organizations, the counter-intel guys got their butts kicked by POTUS Trump because they weren’t living up to their mission. Their mission was to protect the USA. They have been largely failing these past 25 years or so, hence the election of Trump. You can never build a cohesive group on hypocrisy. The hypocrisy attracts narcissistic types, repels the good and able and generally erodes the organization over time. The organization then begins to fail.
Open borders: Counter-Intel fail. Reduction in Military ability, while stretching the Military too thin: Counter-Intel fail. Jus Solis for 4 million Chinese babies, born in the US then flown back to China: Counter-Intel fail. Wen Ho Lee stealing all of America’s nuke designs: Counter-Intel fail. Uranium sales: fail. Tech transfers: fail. The list goes on and on and on.
Not that surprising when you realize the last American citizens convicted of Treason were the Rosenbergs. What is a Treason conviction? A sign of a K country. If Treason is off the table as a potential federal charge because it’s not in legal “vogue”, that is a massive sign of r. America is not K until we start trying people for Treason again. Planning a coup to overthrow a lawfully elected President, so that the rape of the United States of America can continue is, obviously, Treason.
