We keep hearing about Obama using a “pseudonym” to email Hillary on her private server:
President Obama has provoked even greater concern regarding Hillary Clinton’s far-reaching email scandal with revelations that he used an undisclosed pseudonym in email communications that were routed through her private email server. The email dates back to 2012 during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state and information relating to it was disclosed by the FBI as the agency released its second batch of documents in connection with its investigation of Clinton’s alleged inappropriate handling of government emails and possible security breaches.
During the course of the Bureau’s interview with Huma Abedin, one of Clinton’s closest advisors, investigators showed her the email. A shocked Abedin then asked, “How is that not classified?” according to the FBI report. She then asked if she could keep a copy of the email but it is not known whether the FBI assented to her request.
If Obama had his own unsecure private server set up to bypass records laws, so his “questionable” emails wouldn’t be searchable or accessible for perusal, that might explain the term pseudonym, and explain why Comey was so eager to boot this hot potato as far and as fast as he could. A President violating classification rules to hide possible criminal activity he didn’t want in the public record would be quite a scandal, and just the investigation could turn up impeachable information, since the private server itself would be a treasure trove of everything Obama didn’t want people to find out about – and it could lead to other off-label private, unsecure servers by other actors in government, from Brennan to Jarrett.
It is possible the private server was a common thing for communications that these characters don’t want subject to FOIAs at some point. The mistake Hillary made was she used the private server for all of her communications, rather than just the ones she wanted to hide.
