Notice how every time these outbreaks happen, you are rolling the dice on a superior mutant better able to infect the human machine, and better able to overcome vaccination. One outbreak is not that bad, but when you have outbreak after outbreak, sooner or later you will produce a superior pathogen. Let this get sexually transmitted, and vaccine resistant, and you have a new pandemic. And that is what Darwin is looking for, relentlessly.
