Cancel The Oscars To Protest Trump

Sounds like a good idea:

President Donald Trump’s new immigration order — the one many have labeled a “Muslim ban” because it temporarily bars entry to the US for natives of seven Muslim-majority countries — stops people associated with various Oscar-nominated films from attending the 2017 Academy Awards. That’s just one reason the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should cancel its annual ceremony and instead announce the winners via press release.

What many do not understand is that the Oscars are not a celebration. Everything you see in the mass media is part of a complex machine designed to generate money flow from the masses to the media machine. The key element of that machine is eyeballs. The more eyeballs you can put on a product, the more it will sell.

If Evopsych were mentioned on every news show tomorrow, even if they savaged it as completely awful, it would sell more copies than it will ever sell based upon the quality of what is between the covers. Where you can perhaps see this most effectively demonstrated, is in the case of the Pet Rock. A man put rocks in boxes, and sold them as pets. Because it was discussed widely, he made millions.

When you turn on your news, and they discuss Taylor Swift’s latest breakup, or Jay Z’s latest deal, or Fifty Shades, or some movie’s controversy, all of those are targeted mentions, which increase the sales of those commodities. This example of how media-mentions generate sales is why medias conglomerate. Disney owns ABC, and the publisher Hyperion, and radio stations, and online websites, and magazines, on and on. The reason they conglomerate is to cut the costs of mentions, and synergize them to amplify the effects.

A book like Fifty Shades generates magazine articles, which sells both books and magazines. The movie increases book sales, and generates ad revenue for the TV shows which cover it. I have often suspected that each time a commodity is mentioned, a super-computer in the background somewhere is plugged into the sales data, watching to calculate the profit generated by that mention, to optimize the efficiency of the machine. Judging by mentions, I have assumed every mention of Taylor Swift sends all the teeny boppers to the Apple store to buy her MP3’s, far more than any other commodity’s mention.

So the Oscars are not just some lavish party. It is a part of the publicity machine, investing value in the actors, movies, and celebrities it mentions and calls attention to. After it, I am sure that between all the website articles, the TV news pieces, the red carpet photos, and so on, the media machine sees an uptick in sales of all of the products it offers to the public, and that increase in profit is far greater than the production cost of the endeavor.

That is why I love this idea to demand the Oscars cancel their show, to show solidarity. Kill the Oscars, and you are hitting Hollywood leftists in their pocket book. I would then actually take it a step further, and begin to generate online demands for other mass media productions to cancel their activities – to demonstrate their loyalty to the leftist/SJW cause. If they do, you bleed the media machine, and if they do not, you bleed off some of the SJW’s energy by getting them attacking their own fellow leftists for not being “supportive.”

God knows today, every little snowflake demands that everyone be supportive.

Tell others about r/K Theory, because you want to be supportive of conservatism and the God Emperor
