Burn the Gay Flag, Do Five Years Hard Time

Man charged with Hate Crime for burning a rainbow flag:

Cameron Mayfield, 23, goes to court Wednesday, accused of burning a lesbian couple’s rainbow flag right in front of them at their home near 32nd Avenue and Vinton Street.

Prosecutors have charged Cameron Mayfield, 23, with third-degree arson…

The charge carries a maximum of five years in prison… Davis said Mayfield’s actions would have been a $100 fine if the victims were straight.

“There’s a political wind that’s blowing pretty hard these days in Omaha, and I want to make sure that wind doesn’t blow my clients over,” Davis said.

The lesbian couple affected disagrees, saying, “The intent really does make the difference. Watching him run toward our house with our burning flag, seeing him stop and wave that burning symbol of a controversial, and inherent part of our being(s) as a minority, in front of our house as a clear message, made it scary. That made it an attack as opposed to a prank…”

The Douglas County Attorney’s Office said Mayfield’s charge of arson was aggravated by a hate crime, making his charge a class four felony. He’s back in court on March 27.

But burn a US flag, or step on it like Bill Ayers for a photo op, and you will be given tenure and a paid career for life. Insult the rainbow flag, and you are looking at hard time.

Nothing divides the population like r/K. On one side are reasonable people for whom fairness, loyalty, and morality are paramount. On the other are craven neurotics who lack any sense of right or wrong, beyond the mercurial demands of their own unstable Id. One produces great societies, and one destroys every last vestige of them, if given free reign.

When resources are flush we let things ride, and those who define the culture are the least stable among us. But at some point the environment will cull the herd, and restore balance to the system.

Personally, I can’t wait.

“…The charge carries a maximum of five years in prison…”

I find this hard to believe. This is just not my country anymore. I hate to say it but burning the American flag doesn’t mean a thing to me any more. It’s not my country.

I’m astounded.

Demand a jury trial. It only takes one sleeper r-strategist to hang the jury.
