Young people continuing their education for longer, as well as delayed marriage and parenthood, has redefined common perceptions of when adulthood starts, scientists wrote in the Lancet Child & Adolescent Health journal.
Societal and biological changes have prolonged the adolescent years from the ages of 10-19 to now ending at 24 years old, scientists said, leading to a debate about whether new policies would benefit or “infantilize” the older adolescents.
Puberty used to occur around age 14, but now has lowered to the age of 10 because of improved health and nutrition in much of the developed world, the BBC reported.
As a result, in the past 150 years the average age for a girl’s first menstruation has become younger by four years in industrialized countries like the U.K.
So the fertile age is lowering from 14 to ten, while psychology maturity, amygdala development, and the related behavioral restraint, is showing up later and later.
As this is occurring, we can see the increase in the prevalence of the left-wing, SJW ideology. Today, the establishment conservatives take up positions to the left of 1950’s Democrats, and the Democrats take up positions identical to the 1950’s communists.
All of this is related. It is a dopamine mediated adaptation of reproductive strategy designed to better exploit such a glut in a state of nature. It doesn’t work all that well, but that is only because our innate biological programming has not yet evolved to work in our modern environment, where women can take a pill to avoid pregnancy, and abort any pregnancy they accidently produce. Both of those, combined with the r-strategist’s diminished drive to rear offspring, effectively neuter the natural suite of r-strategy instincts.
As time goes on, I expect the r-strategy to adapt. But for now, most r-strategists spontaneously self-sterilize to a large degree in the presence of modern technology and the more complex knowledge humans have of how reproduction works.
