Navy SEAL turned author Matt Bracken recently created the excellent Youtube video above, designed to motivate gun owners. Notice how the mortally salient stimuli presented in the beginning of the video enhances the motivation to act now, while we are still free to, that you experience when the music begins in the second half.
Had the video just jumped into shots of gun owners displayed to the music, it might have seemed oddly silly, or purposeless. However, by showing a mortally salient threat, it focuses the mind, strengthens the will, raises anger, and eliminates apathy, before presenting a stirring homage to America’s gunowners – the line of last defense for American freedom. Once it launches the call to act, you are infinitely more open to it, and much more affected. Without the mortally salient stimuli, it would be much easier to embrace apathy, and just sit home while the politicans disarm America. With it, you are infintely more likely to get out there, and show up to fight the Liberal drives to disarm everyone, and make your voice heard.
Had Karl Rove done a video on this subject, it would have simply been a video of a field full of flowers, with a kid running through it, holding a single shot .22, and saying “Why can’t we own guns?” Then he and his pansy friends would have complimented each other over finger food and cocktails, for being so intellectual. Instead of motiating us to get up and act now to save our right to self defense, it would have only made such a right seem less valuble.
That is the difference between videos by Warriors, who understand the psychology of fellow Conservative Warriors, and videos by some fat pansy who really doesn’t care about Conservatism, but wants to feather his own nest while deciding who should lead a movement he knows nothing about. One is the type of person who actually will save freedom by stirring the political troops, while the other is self-deluded in his perception of the role he plays in the protection of our freedom.
We need more Matt Brackens in the media war to come. I look forward to his next video.
