I think there should be a multi year prohibition on any form of Gov’t assistance. That is until you’ve been here and as a citizen for X years you can’t receive anything.

did you miss the article from 2012 discussing how much welfare and associated programs “paid” and what it was equivalent to? This was Louisiana, not exactly a place that hands out as much money as say California or New York, but it worked out that if your income was a under 2K per year, you could get upwards of 30K or 35K from all forms of assistance – Money for food, housing, heat/electric, etc. Given that is untaxed, it meant that a tax paying person had to earn about 60K to have the same after tax income (35K). I wish I could find the link for you on it.

Denmark recently cut refugee benefits in half. We should do the same. Maybe they will decide to go somewhere else.
