Early this morning I did the quarterly tax update for a local business. There are a lot of small towns in Arkansas with 11% sales tax now. I’m pretty sure most of it is going to feed the ever-growing bureaucracies.
As an example, 20 years ago my town had a population of 36,000, and the Grass Gestapo was two people. Now it’s eight. Plus we have a “Parks and Recreation” department with at least fifteen worker-bees, plus management. So sales tax keeps getting bumped to pay for them.
Trash pickup fees, water, and sewage fees have more than doubled as well. We’ll probably get an “air tax” next.

In Oregon they won’t let you save water that falls on your property. They say you are stealing it, and elsewhere they tax you for it falling on your property. Sigh…

There is way too much reliance on the presence of a mastermind that keeps everything going. This is a false assumption. The real target is the middle management.

Middle management are important enough to make a big difference every time you get one and are needed in large enough numbers that if you get enough it cripples the machine for a decent length of time.

Once the debt collapse happens there will be a much slimmer government structure, with the loss of many many bureaucrat jobs. One can hope.

The things that could be done with a hundredth, a thousandth even, of what they scam from us. I often talk about these sorts of tech, to show exactly how screwed over we are but also to show what could be. We would not have to have some big commie government to make these happen. It appears that various anti-parasite drugs have very powerful anti-cancer action. We also know that with genetic engineering we could make lower level stuff like yeast and bacteria make, anything, steak, watermelons, rice, whatever. It is a 100% fact that using solar power to make sugars from air, water, a little energy and using genetically engineered organisms we could feed the whole planet in great style. There’s no need for anyone in this country to be homeless. They could, with only the money we spend now, make tiny apartments that would at least have a shower, place to cook and keep the rain off your head. Now some would make a mess of this and end up right back on the street and that’s fine. The ones that didn’t we could say we did our duty and put a roof over their heads. The waste is phenomenal in the homeless industry. One place spent $10,000 a tent! I could build a tiny concrete apartment and furnish it for that.
