Donald jokes about why he has no Secret Service protection:
Despite attracting huge crowds, Donald Trump believes the government has not yet granted him Secret Service protection because he is a Republican.
“They’re in no rush because I’m a Republican. They don’t give a s—,” Trump jokingly told the Hill.
“I want to put them on notice because they should have a liability,” he said. “Personally, I think if Obama were doing as well as me he would’ve had Secret Service [earlier]. I have by far the biggest crowds.”
“Of course I don’t think they’d want anything to happen. But I would think they should be very proactive and want protection for somebody like me that has 20,000 people at any time,” Trump said. “You would think that they would want to be very proactive, but we have not heard from them.”
I would have thought El Chapo’s Tweets would have brought the Secret Service out.
Trump should ask for protection when it will gain him maximum media advantage, but before everyone else. Already he has the feel of inevitability. If Secret Service suddenly shows up, it will only add to that. Short of Melania stopping by the White House and being given full access to measure for new curtains, it would tough to make his Presidency seem more inevitable.
Still, welcoming in Secret Service is not without risk. LE Intel, based out of Homeland Security is now running the show all over, and has agents implanted everywhere. If you invite in Secret Service I have no idea how you would guard against one of them being a DHS asset and sending all your most sensitive campaign intelligence back to DHS Intel. If DHS Intel decided they didn’t want you in, it would seem to open up all sorts of difficulties for your campaign. Given Bush Senior’s stint as DCI, and G.W. having manned, and in many cases created the various LE intel operations out there, I would wonder if inviting Secret Service in wouldn’t be sacrificing a significant advantage to Jeb’s team.
If I were Donald, I’d invite Secret Service to man the outside of the bubble and the rope lines, but be sure to keep only my own team on the inside, where sensitive intelligence might exist.
God Bless Donald Trump.

Agreed. The SS’s only goal with regards to Trump is to sink his campaign.
