Wisconsin Eliminates Civil Asset Forfeiture In Absence Of A Conviction

Wisconsin is the 15th state to do so:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) signed into law a forfeiture reform bill last week that will require law enforcement officials to obtain a criminal conviction before permanently taking a person’s cash or property, making Wisconsin the 15th state to do so.

The law is intended to address the controversial practice of civil asset forfeiture, a common legal maneuver that allows police to seize and keep cash, real estate and other property from people suspected of criminal activity, regardless of whether those people are convicted.

This is a measure of increased amygdala, producing a sort of increased territoriality, so we will probably see more of it as the Apocalypse approaches. It is counterintuitive since you would think as crime and threat increases, people would prefer Law Enforcement be given even more power, but freedom, in its purest form is territoriality, and it is heightened as a practical measure when amygdala is high.

This might also be a measure of increasing amygdala, especially after a period of high atrophy:

A new survey has found that a third of young millennials in the U.S. aren’t convinced the Earth is actually round. The national poll reveals that 18 to 24-year-olds are the largest group in the country who refuse to accept the scientific facts of the world’s shape.

YouGov, a British market research firm, polled 8,215 adults in the United States to find out if they ever believed in the “flat Earth” movement. Only 66 percent of young millennials answered that they “always believe the world is round.” Science teachers across the U.S. will be shaking their heads after learning that nine percent of young adults answered that they have “always believed” the planet was flat.

Another nine percent said of young adults said they thought the planet was spherical but had doubts about it. In a disturbing display of indecision, 16 percent of millennials said they weren’t sure what the shape of the planet was.

High amygdala produces distrust. When you encounter an idea that is grossly wrong, your amygdala fires off aversion to drive you from the idea. If your amygdala is already in high gear, it will be providing small amounts of aversion which can simulate perception of falsity, and that will trigger a distrustful attitude. If your amygdala is poorly developed, you may not be able to discern clear truth from clear falsity.

But as your amygdala develops, that high-amygdala distrust mixed with functional amygdala relevance weighing can drive you right to truth, even in the face of relentless attempts to deceive:

President Donald Trump is not alone in thinking media outlets spread “fake news.”

More than 3-in-4 of 803 American respondents, or 77 percent, said they believe that major traditional television and newspaper media outlets report “fake news,” according to a Monmouth University poll released Monday, marking a sharp increase in distrust of those news organizations from a year ago, when 63 percent registered concerns about the spread of misinformation.

That is almost eight in ten Americans who no longer trust the Mainstream News, and it is all the hard work of the God Emperor to bring light to the darkness. And as amygdalae amp up into the Apocalypse, that distrust is only going to increase.

The future may be sparse and harsh, but it will also be more free and honest.

Spread r/K Theory, because what doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger – and your nation too

Civil asset forfeiture is one of those things that’s usually more trouble than it’s worth. Also, it’s often wrong. PD’s (especially in blue states) will have a tendency to use it as an alternative revenue stream in a major depression. That will cause… problems.

If I were 18 and some idiot pollski asked me if I believed in “flat earth theory”, I would most definitely say “YES”

rien is right — ask any gun owners how truthfully they answer a phone survey asking how many guns they own! That’s a serious non-answer. Ask me if I believe in a flat earth and I might say yes just because it’s a damned stupid question! That’s a fun non-answer!
