Venezuela is still heading downhill:
Ramón Muchacho, Mayor of Chacao in Caracas… reported that in Venezuela, it is a “painful reality” that people “hunt cats, dogs and pigeons” to ease their hunger.
People are also reportedly gathering vegetables from the ground and trash to eat as well.
The crisis in Venezuela is worsening everyday due in part to shortages reaching 70 percent. This to go along with the world’s highest level of inflation.
The population’s desperation has begun to show, with looting and robberies for food increasing all the time. This Sunday, May 1, six Venezuelan military officials were arrested for stealing goats to ease their hunger, as there was no food at the Fort Manaure military base.
Those animals will not last long. There are areas in Italy which had no songbirds for decades, because during periods of hunger the Italians hunted even the small songbirds to extinction. Once those animals are gone, the only meat left may be human, and then the real amygdala starts.
One of the things to watch for and document in this K-shift, is how fast K-returns. We have seen the decline into r, and noticed how it takes several generations, over which the decline is cumulative. That implies, strongly, that the decline into r is epigenetic.
Amygdala activation is shocking though, far more than simply living without threat or hunger. And it is more shocking the more r you are. I wonder if that will make the shift to K faster than the decline into r.
On the coming shift, it will be interesting to see if it takes two or three generations to produce the types of hordes who will hunt down and execute SJWs to rebuild great societies, or if, in the horror and hyper-angst of r-amygdalae meeting K-conditions, the K-shift occurs much faster than the decline into r.
Spread r/K Theory, because thing happen faster than you’d think sometimes
Geez, i still can vividly remember not more than 10 years ago hearing Venezuela & Chavez proudly declaring their economical growth.
Venezuela is like Fallout. They didn’t even need a nuclear war to get there, just socialism.
Hungry people are too weak to fight. At least they finaly start culling the stray dog population.
“six Venezuelan military officials were arrested for stealing goats to ease their hunger, as there was no food at the Fort Manaure military base”
Now that sounds like a problem. Seems to me like the last group of people you want angry at the regime is the military, especially when your country doesn’t have a tradition of peaceful transfers of power and you are depending on the military to save your ass against starving civilians. If the soldiers are starving, there’s a very real possibility that the next time they’re called on to shoot protesters, they’ll just say “fuck it, I’m out” and join them.
Regardless, I’m sure Maduro and his cronies aren’t doing too badly. If there’s one thing I’ve seen in the more “vibrant” parts of the country I’ve had the pleasure of visiting (Oakland, Compton, just about any major city in California, etc), it’s that the government always takes care of itself. The rest of the city might be a delapitated shantytown, but the city hall and government offices are invariably all newly renovated buildings with meticulously manicured courtyards and safe garages for the government employees to park their taxpayer-funded luxury cars, all guarded by private security guards (no city police officers who only go to the range once or twice a year for them — only the most professional security will do for our government overlords!) carrying wepons the plebs are not allowed to own. Got to keep the nobility safe when they venture out of their gated subdivisions to appear before the common folk and demand more taxes, more regulations, and more diversity.
you mean like in the movie, “Hunger Games.” life imitating art.
Clearly this situation suits the ruling class in Venezuela just fine.
