Las Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday.
Every idiot knows diesel isn’t going to blow if you shoot it.
But suppose you add this to the equation:
Las Vegas Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said on Wednesday night the man responsible for the largest mass-shooting in America’s history was also heavily armed with explosive chemicals. Sheriff Lombardo stated Stephen Paddock, responsible for the deaths of 58 people and over 480 injured during Sunday night’s Las Vegas shooting, also had large amounts of ammonium nitrate and tannerite in his vehicle outside the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
A part of me wonders if someone was supposed to add the ammonium nitrate to the tanks and slap tannerite on the outside of the tanks. You would think he wouldn’t have wasted the shots at the tanks unless he thought they were going to go boom. He wanted casualties, and those bullets were wasted in that regard.
It is possible there is someone out there who was supposed to help with logistics but who got cold feet.

Based on the size of the storage tanks it was probably avgas 100LL. That grade of fuel has some antidetonation properties (for a very good reason), but could likely still be lit by tracer rounds and even explosives, like tannerite. Aircraft fuel is generally more complex than motor fuel. Paddock used to fly planes so he likely was aware of those tanks, the fuel in them and their flash point/safety data. He could of been trying to get them to leak, then lit the leaked fuel. Didn’t have the skill to pull it off though, something like that would be very difficult to say the least.
There is something to be considered when dealing with the narcissist spree killer. Once they start to act and in the immediate time preceding, their amygdala issues will act to inhibit the success and efficiency of their plans. These are not the kind of people able to survive in battle or execute a plan effectively. They are able to fantasize and work behind the scenes, hence the weapons acquisition and cache of explosives along with scoping out other potential kill sites over the months. This brings their fantasy to reality and they do work well when they get others to do the dirty work such as chicken hawks and cult leaders. Once the job has to be done by them, they fall to pieces. A logical killer of high K would know that he only needed one or two guns and that he would not likely leave the first kill zone alive to hunt again. This guy wanted the world to know what a great planner he was and what he could have done. He could have set the bombs with timers, but it was unnecessary as he was thrilled with acquiring and showing everyone his plans. He was proving his genius to himself. This why most stalkers never strike their victims. It is not thrill of the hunt, only showing their superior prowess and tormenting the victim. His ammo cache and cryptic number writings in the room serve to torment people later trying to figure him out. He knew this is how it would go. Wants to be the mysterious genius, perhaps make people wonder if he left a surprise somewhere. The planning served him better than the action which is the why behind the excessive material acquisition. The media and most investigators do not understand the working of the narcissistic mind and are assuming psychopathy or some motivator. The latter is to serve the narcissistic delusion. Delusions do not do logical things for the most part only by accident. He would have appeared very nutty in the days immediately prior, especially in the hours just prior and would know to isolate himself in this time to not blow the entire thing. He would have become more and more manic and reckless in the months approaching the date, disorganized and sloppy, perhaps getting caught. Theses types know that they cannot handle the stress or situation and actively try to hide this particular angle of their problems.
