This would bring about another r-wave:
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump laid out his energy plan to industry experts Thursday that included policies to unleash $50 trillion from “untapped” oil, natural gas and coal reserves.
Trump said “untapped energy — some $50 trillion in shale energy, oil reserves and natural gas on federal lands, in addition to hundreds of years of coal energy reserves,” according to The Wall Street Journal report on the candidate’s speech at an energy summit in Pittsburgh, Penn.
This is the only thing about The Donald that worries me. He could very well be successful. If Hillary had been elected, it would have been one big fail and then on to Apocalypse, and our populations would have had their psychologies readjusted to be more K, and forestall future problems.
But Donald could just open a resource tap from his success, and that flood of free resources could forestall the K-shift. It won’t be so bad by the end of his term, because Donald himself is a walking, talking K-stimulus. But if Pence isn’t as aware of the need to keep the population K while amassing the wins, we could end up with a Bush I situation, where everything Reagan accomplished was undone by one imbecile who wanted everyone to like him. I hope Trump can imbue Pence with an awareness of the need to keep people K through the application of K-stimuli.
It is an interesting conundrum with politics that nobody seems to be aware of. The more rabbits win, the more they feed their opposition’s power, while the more the K-strategists win, the more likely it is that future administrations will trend r as the population is rabbitized. It is perhaps the biggest reason to not even care what happens in politics. No matter what you do, the system will right itself, due to its self-balancing nature.
At this point, my only concern is that K’s remained armed, so they can defend themselves from savages at the collapse.
Spread r/K Theory, before The Donald piles on so many wins that nobody cares about politics anymore

I think the worlds savages will keep the population fairly K. I expect 8 years of Trump, don’t know what will come after though. The Post-Antibiotic era will likely begin before 2025 and Pakistan should have around 300 nukes by then, don’t know how many MIRVs China could have. We shouldn’t have long to wait.
Trump is used to the conditions extant the last 35 years, AKA the bond bubble & coincident credit bubble. Both were symptoms of a once-in-four-lifetimes social mood mania.
Trump largely proposes to ramp borrowing higher, possibly in the mistaken belief that ability to borrow is mechanistic. It’s not. The bond, credit & asset bubbles are on track to burst, and it seems phenomenally unlikely that any king’s horses and men will put it together again.
I think people are getting aware of the conundrum. I’ve seen the Twitter meme going around that “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.”
Great point.
Ironic that Ronald Reagan could be blamed for giving us the current r-strategist culture.
