This is what it will look like:
In Chicago, the rule of law has broken down. There have been 749 homicides so far this year, according to the web site HeyJackass.com. Those are all within the city limits of Chicago. Chicago’s population is 2.7 million. Given that we have over three weeks to go to the end of the year, the annual homicide rate for Chicago will be over 28 per 100,000. That falls into the rates typical for places where the rule of law has failed. Places like South Africa (32), Brazil (25), the American Virgin Islands (33), Puerto Rico (24), and Jamaica(36).
28 is the overall rate for the entire city. In reality, some neighborhoods are much more violent, others have a very low homicide rate. It is all very predictable and based on human nature. When the rule of law cannot be relied on, people fear the law less than they fear their enemies. Grudges, blood feuds, and tribalism (or the proto-tribes known as “gangs”) flourish.
You’d actually be less likely to get murdered in Brazil. I’ll bet you could pit Chicago’s worst neighborhoods against the worst Brazilian favelas. And you know once the Apocalypse hits, those neighborhoods will be trying to execute raids on the suburbs.
It is tempting to think of this as, “other people will be going crazy.” But this will change how you think too. High stress can have different effects, based on the resiliency of the individual. A fragile individual can enter a psychotic state or even break down, but even a resilient individual will see their psychology shift toward a much more action oriented one. Lacking stress, you may let opportunities pass by, but under stress you will feel driven to act immediately when given any opportunity.
This creates a synergistic effect, where everyone’s increased amygdala feeds the amygdalae around them. Right now, a lot of suburbs are nice and quiescent with plenty of food, and no danger. But let that change, and the weaker amygdalae will quickly have everyone else’s amygdalae in high gear, as the Apocalypse unfurls its flag over the neighborhood.
Tell others about r/K Theory, because it will put all of our amygdalae on the same page

So glad I’m not there. Rabbit neighborhood watch doesn’t stand a chance.
