Did Romney Release The Trump Access Hollywood Tape?

This was interesting:

There are many indicators the leaked 2005 NBC/Universal Trump video may have been a coordinated GOPe (UniParty) plot to remove the threat to their influence and affluence posed by the candidacy of Donald Trump.

Here’s a summary of stories, interviews and excerpts related to this issue. [I’ll weigh in with my take after all of the information] Beginning with Lou Dobbs interviewing Jerry Falwell Jr.:

Jerry Falwell, Jr.: The whole story just fell in my lap about six or eight weeks ago. I got a phone call from someone who is very close to the top establishment candidates and the Republican Party, people who wanted to be president over the last four or five years.

He told me, “Jerry something strange is going on. They’re meeting regularly. And they tell me it is a certainty that Donald Trump will not be the nominee on November 8th. And I called one of Trump’s attorneys and I told him about it. There were no more details than that. So there’s nothing anybody could do.

But then when I saw what happened this weekend, and I saw how quickly all the usual suspects jumped on it and started to call on Trump to step down as the nominee… It was just too much of a coincidence… It really tells me it was some sort of conspiracy. I went to the proper authorities and told them what I was told. It’s probably too late to prosecute anybody… It’s not only despicable. I think it maybe rises to the level of criminal behavior…

I doubt this was the Bushes. I’m sure Jeb is vaguely disappointed Billy Bush didn’t tell him about the tape so he could use it in the primary. If the Bushes had it, it would have been rolled out then.

Romney on the other hand might be a better fit. Five years ago he wanted to be President. He even asked Jeb to step aside on this go around, so he could run again, much to Jeb’s amusement. I am sure Romney is thinking that if Hillary wins, he can walk into the Presidency in four years.

There is also Bain Capital’s association with NBC. Although Romney’s ties to Bain are not what they were, if he caught wind of the tape while Billy was bragging about it at the Olympics (Another institution with whose leadership Romney has been associated), he would probably have been able to negotiate access to it though his network at Bain:

Starting on last night’s Ed Show with Ed Schultz, MSNBC anchors are now disclosing their parent company’s ties to Bain Capital, the buyout firm co-founded by Mitt Romney…

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell also mentioned the NBC-Bain connection on her program this afternoon.

Romney is an even bigger snake than the Bushes. We really dodged a bullet with him in 2012. What he would have done to the movement, had we been so foolish as to elect him would have been beyond measure. Imagine this election, choosing between a liberal Romney, and Hillary.
