Already we are hearing about some of it:
The U.S. Intelligence Community collected ‘incidental’ information about President Donald Trump’ and his transition team during the three months following the 2016 election, House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes today revealed…
But that ‘did not involve Russia or any discussions with Russians,’ Nunes said, adding that he was ‘alarmed’ to learn what he did…
The surveillance would have occurred while Obama was still president. Nunes said he could not rule out the involvement of senior Obama administration officials…
‘I’ve seen dozens of reports,’ Nunes said. ‘I don’t know if there are more than that … I’m going to go to the White House and tell them what I’ve seen.’
‘If they don’t have it,’ he added, ‘they need to see it…’
Nunes told reporters he was bothered by ‘why people would need to know that about President-Elect Trump or his transition team…’
‘It all depends on one’s definition of spying … I’m not going to get into legal definitions here, but clearly I have a concern,’ he said…
In this case, ‘there were additional names that were unmasked,’ he said.
In his daily White House briefing, press secretary Sean Spicer emphasized that ‘American citizens are prohibited by law from being “unmasked” – from having their names put out there…’
Aside from Flynn, Paul Manafort, Carter Page and Roger Stone were named as Trump associates under FBI surveillance in a Jan. 19 New York Times article.
I would assume this was not the real surveillance Trump was talking about, but rather other surveillance that scooped him up “incidentally.” I put “incidentally” in quotes, because if you want to surveil a target, but can’t get approval, you find somebody nearby who you can do surveillance on and then you do it broad enough you catch your original target incidentally.
It is interesting they unmasked names and put it in the database. The fact President Trump’s name was unmasked, for searching in the database, probably means he was a target. They were gathering intel on him and filling a file and they wanted the intel at their fingertips. If he was not significant and targeted, then they are unmasking everyone, which seems unlikely, though not impossible.
If Trump was a target, I will bet this incidental data was not all that was gathered, and if people don’t get in line, there will be a lot more to come. He now has everyone on a string.
I would love to know how many Alt-right figures who have had emails or phone calls cross overseas regions have extensive files, with their online communications recorded for posterity and fully unmasked.
Spread r/K Theory, because the watchers aren’t about to help
[…] Some Trump Surveillance Was Documented […]
Snowden already told us. NSA sweeps up to 3 ‘jumps’ from a ‘contact’. So if say, one of your classmates in college had a Belarussian girlfriend- boom they can get metadata on virtually an entire university. Then lets say you read Breitbart or god forbid RT. They would could use that as grounds for a FISA warrant. Going full circle from Vault 7 we know that CIA contractors implant software with Russian signatures- so they could use that as an excuse by FBI to tail you, or the NSA to collect even more data. I wonder if they will ever use this amazing $200 billion system- to I dunno… maybe catch a terrorist or two.
The unmasking is their Waterloo.
Say it was incidental. Fine. It was incidental. Why, then, did it not only get reported up the chain (which you don’t do with incidental info — it’s just incidental, and non-targets aren’t the subjects of reports) but also unmasked, a serious, serious move for US Persons not under a warrant in the US?
There’s no way this doesn’t get back to Obama now. If he never ends up testifying, it is because our leaders lack the political will to put him there, not because his hands are clean.
And people wonder why I don’t give interviews.
